📋 Description
- • Lead Performance Web Engineer responsible for owning the speed, efficiency, and scalability of Polymarket's web platform, setting direction for web performance as a discipline to support the world's largest prediction market platform handling $21B traded in 2025.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include owning web performance end-to-end (load times, rendering, runtime efficiency), setting technical direction for architecture and tooling, optimizing critical rendering path, driving caching and CDN strategy, building performance observability (RUM, Core Web Vitals, synthetic testing), and establishing performance benchmarks across engineering.
- • Polymarket is a fast-growing peer-to-peer prediction market platform that aggregates diverse opinions into transparent, market-based probabilities, aiming to become a ubiquitous beacon of truth in global media.
- • The role offers opportunity to lay foundation for a world-class web performance practice, influence engineering culture, and achieve measurable impact on user experience at significant scale (billions of page loads).
🎯 Requirements
- • Deep experience in web performance engineering at significant scale – worked on systems serving billions of page loads
- • Strong expertise across web performance stack: rendering, caching, CDN configuration, bundle optimization, and Core Web Vitals
- • Proficiency in JavaScript and TypeScript, with strong understanding of browser engines, V8 runtime, and network layer interaction
- • Experience with real user monitoring, synthetic performance testing, and building observability systems that surface regressions
- • Technical leadership experience: setting direction, raising bar across codebase, influencing broader engineering team on performance
- • (Plus) Experience with Next.js, React, and modern SSR/SSG rendering strategies at scale
