  • • As a Lead Platform Engineer at FICO, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the architecture and evolution of enterprise-grade analytics software used by global financial institutions, insurers, and retailers to make data-driven decisions that impact millions of lives.
  • • You will contribute directly to FICO’s mission of empowering businesses with AI, machine learning, and optimization technologies, ensuring the reliability, scalability, and innovation of core products that underpin critical financial operations worldwide.
  • • Design, develop, deploy, and support modules of large-scale enterprise-level products, ensuring seamless integration across complex systems while maintaining the highest standards of performance and reliability.
  • • Participate in architectural design discussions, influencing long-term technical direction and evaluating trade-offs between scalability, security, interoperability, and maintainability of software components.
  • • Develop high-level development timelines by analyzing project scope, existing codebases, and technical dependencies, enabling accurate planning and cross-team alignment.
  • • Evaluate new design specifications against quality benchmarks, proactively identifying architectural risks and advocating for improvements that enhance system resilience and future extensibility.
  • • Assess and optimize software for stability, compatibility, scalability, interoperability, and performance under real-world workloads, leveraging profiling tools and benchmarking methodologies.
  • • Maintain and upgrade product source codebases, applying patches, refactoring legacy components, and ensuring compatibility with evolving platforms and dependencies.
  • • Demonstrate technical leadership through internal and external knowledge sharing — including publishing white papers, delivering presentations at tech conferences, and contributing to engineering blogs.
  • • Continuously learn and evaluate emerging technologies in areas such as cloud-native architectures, containerization, microservices, and data processing frameworks to inform platform evolution.
  • • Serve as a trusted technical mentor to junior engineers, guiding best practices in coding, design patterns, debugging, and documentation while fostering a culture of technical excellence.
  • • Collaborate closely with product management, professional services, and QA teams to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions that meet customer needs and regulatory expectations.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience in software architecture, design, development, and testing.
  • • Proven experience in software design with a strong grasp of design patterns, database modeling (relational and/or NoSQL), and data structure optimization.
  • • Deep proficiency in programming languages and database concepts, including SQL, transaction management, indexing strategies, and data integrity principles.
  • • Demonstrated ability to write clear product specifications and document features for technical and non-technical audiences, including architects, product managers, and customers.
  • • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical designs to architects and align cross-functional teams on strategy and requirements.
  • • Familiarity with the business domains FICO serves (e.g., credit risk, fraud detection, lending, insurance) to better contextualize technical decisions and anticipate user needs.
  • • Experience delivering product demonstrations or technical walkthroughs is considered a strong advantage for engaging stakeholders and showcasing platform capabilities.
