Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Lead Software Engineer for Advanced Pilot Assistant Software at Beacon AI, responsible for designing and deploying safety-critical autonomy and robotics systems that enhance flight safety and operational efficiency in aviation environments.
- • Day-to-day responsibilities include designing, building, and deploying robotic and embedded software for production pilot assistance systems; owning autonomy-related features from concept to deployment with focus on reliability and performance; writing, reviewing, and maintaining high-quality Python and C++ code across autonomy, systems, and embedded components; integrating software with hardware, sensors, and perception pipelines to support autonomous and operator-in-the-loop decision-making; optimizing software for edge compute environments by managing CPU/GPU usage, latency, and implementing safety mechanisms and fail-safes; leading testing, validation, and deployment to meet safety-critical and mission-critical requirements; mentoring engineers and contributing to technical direction through design reviews, code reviews, and hands-on collaboration.
- • Beacon AI is a fast-moving team of aviators, engineers, and operators building an AI platform to make flying safer, more efficient, and more capable, backed by top investors with multiple Department of Defense contracts and major airline partnerships, operating without silos or heavy processes where small, focused teams own what they build, ship quickly, and learn fast.
- • In this role, you will gain deep expertise in safety-critical embedded and real-time systems, contribute to mission-critical aviation technology used by human operators in time-sensitive scenarios, and grow as a technical leader by mentoring engineers and shaping the architecture of advanced autonomy systems in a high-impact, fast-paced environment.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years of experience designing and deploying robotic software and/or embedded systems in production environments.
- • Strong software engineering skills in C++ and/or Python, with experience in systems-level or embedded programming.
- • Experience building real-time or interactive systems that support users making time-sensitive decisions.
- • Familiarity with autonomy-related systems such as planning, decision-making, or reasoning, and integrating with perception or sensor pipelines.
- • Hands-on experience working with embedded or edge compute platforms and debugging hardware/software interactions.
- • Proven ability to deliver complex systems end-to-end in fast-moving, ambiguous environments.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Healthcare: 100% of employee medical premiums covered; 25% for dependents
- • Time Off: 3 weeks PTO plus 13+ paid company holidays
- • Stipends: Monthly phone and wellness benefits
