ďż˝ Description
- • Lead the technical direction of a distributed development squad (6-12 engineers) across Pisa, Milan, Turin, Collecchio or Rome, owning the end-to-end delivery of mission-critical trading and workflow automation modules used by 40 % of the world’s largest corporations.
- • Architect, design and implement high-throughput, low-latency software components in Java, C++, .NET or TypeScript, spanning both rich web UIs and resilient server-side micro-services that process millions of financial events per day.
- • Continuously modernise ION’s existing product portfolio by introducing cutting-edge patterns (event sourcing, CQRS, reactive streams) and open-source technologies, ensuring the platform remains ahead of market and regulatory demands.
- • Perform deep-dive root-cause analysis on the most complex production incidents—memory leaks, race conditions, distributed data drift—and craft permanent fixes that eliminate entire classes of failure while maintaining 99.99 % availability SLAs.
- • Evaluate emerging tools and frameworks (e.g., Kotlin coroutines, Rust for performance hotspots, AWS Graviton, Kubernetes operators) and present concise, risk-balanced recommendations to architecture and product leadership.
- • Own technical planning for multi-month epics: decompose epics into user stories, provide accurate story-point estimates, sequence work across time-zones (EMEA, Americas, APAC) and align staffing with release trains and central-bank go-live deadlines.
- • Mentor and up-skill engineers through pair-programming, brown-bag sessions and formal training paths; create reusable code-katas, review checklists and architectural decision records that raise the bar for the entire Italian engineering community.
- • Define and roll out engineering best practices—coding standards, branching strategy, automated security scanning, performance budgets—then measure adoption via DORA metrics and iterate relentlessly.
- • Collaborate daily with Product Managers, quantitative analysts, DevOps and Site-Reliability Engineers to translate regulatory change requests (MiFID II, Basel III, EMIR) into shippable increments within two-week sprints.
- • Champion a culture of psychological safety and inclusive leadership, ensuring every voice is heard in retrospectives and that junior talent from top-ranked universities can rapidly become autonomous contributors.
- • Contribute to patent disclosures and white-papers that showcase ION’s technical thought-leadership at global fintech conferences, reinforcing the company’s reputation as the go-to partner for capital-markets transformation.
