- • As a Lead Software Engineer / Tech Lead for Growth at Maximus Tribe, you will own the technical strategy and execution for the company’s customer acquisition engine, directly impacting revenue growth by optimizing the signup-to-checkout conversion funnel across all health and wellness protocols. This role is critical because Maximus operates in a competitive telehealth market where sustainable, conversion-driven growth—not ad spend—is the key differentiator, and your leadership will ensure experiments are both effective and aligned with long-term user quality.
- • You will split your time 50/50 between hands-on engineering and team leadership, managing a small group of engineers while continuing to write production Ruby on Rails and React code. Your day-to-day responsibilities include designing and shipping full-stack A/B experiments on signup flows, checkout processes, pricing models, and product recommendations using Amplitude; iterating on payment integrations with Stripe and Klarna; building and maintaining experimentation infrastructure; partnering with data engineering to instrument cohort-level M1 retention tracking; and driving adoption of AI-assisted development tools like Claude Code and Devin to boost team velocity.
- • You will collaborate closely with a Senior Product Manager and Senior Designer within a two-week sprint cycle, reporting directly to the Head of Engineering. The team is distributed across North and South America, operating remotely with a strong emphasis on autonomy, rapid iteration, and data-informed decision-making. Maximus is a profitable, 8-figure ARR company backed by top-tier VCs like Founders Fund and 8VC, and is doubling year over year—giving you the stability of a proven business with the upside of a high-growth startup.
- • In this role, you will achieve measurable impact within your first 90 days by leading the BNPL migration to Klarna across all protocols, and within the first two quarters by launching a new activation satisfaction survey to strengthen the retention guardrail and implementing cohort-level experiment tracking. You’ll have the authority to set technical direction, mentor engineers through 1:1s, pair programming, and code reviews, and compound learning over time—turning experimentation into a scalable, repeatable growth engine that moves the company’s top-line metrics every month.
🎯 Requirements
- • Proven experience leading a team of 4–8 engineers with direct reports, including coaching, performance development, and retention of technical talent.
- • Demonstrated success shipping and measuring growth experiments in a subscription-based product, specifically optimizing signup funnels, checkout flows, pricing, and plan architecture using analytics platforms like Amplitude.
- • Strong proficiency in Ruby on Rails 7 and React 18/TypeScript 5.4, with the ability to write production code daily and contribute full-stack features across the acquisition funnel.
