- • Own and define Acorns’ voice and tone guidelines across all customer-facing product interfaces, ensuring narrative clarity, empathy, and consistency from onboarding to error states and educational content.
- • Craft end-to-end customer journeys where product language and interface feel like a seamless, trusted conversation, aligning copy with user emotions and financial behaviors.
- • Transform complex financial mechanics, legal requirements, and regulatory language into simple, transparent, and human-centered copy that empowers everyday families without financial advisors.
- • Lead the creation of in-app educational content that is timely, relevant, and actionable, turning learning moments into opportunities for financial literacy and behavioral change.
- • Champion the customer by relentlessly testing copy, analyzing feedback, and refining language to ensure every interaction feels like personalized, genuine support.
- • Mentor junior writers and cross-functional teams to elevate the quality of product writing across the organization and embed a culture that values the power of language in financial wellness.
- • Collaborate with product, design, compliance, and education teams to ensure all content meets both user needs and legal standards without sacrificing clarity or emotional resonance.
- • Drive the education agenda by identifying key financial pain points and creating content that addresses them at the moment of highest customer need and curiosity.
- • Maintain a deep understanding of the emotional landscape of personal finance — recognizing that Acorns is not just managing money, but managing anxiety, avoidance, and hope.
- • Build and sustain a voice that makes financial conversations feel inclusive, never alienating, ensuring that every customer feels the conversation was always meant for them.

- • Ensure all copy reflects a mission-driven approach, tying daily writing tasks to the broader goal of democratizing financial wellness for millions of up-and-coming families.
- • Stay current with fintech and edtech trends to inform content strategy and maintain relevance in an evolving financial landscape.
- • Balance precision with warmth, ensuring that even the most technical or compliance-heavy messages are delivered with humanity and care.
- • Set the standard for microcopy, button labels, tooltips, and long-form educational articles, paying close attention to rhythm, tone, and emotional impact.
- • Work remotely as part of a distributed team, participating in virtual events, community weeks, and ongoing development programs to stay connected to company culture and mission.
🎯 Requirements
- • 7+ years of UX and product writing experience with a portfolio demonstrating success in simplifying complex systems through language
- • Proven experience writing for fintech, financial services, or edtech environments
- • Strong ability to translate legal and financial complexity into clear, empathetic, and human-centered copy
- • Self-starter mindset with the instinct to identify content gaps and drive initiatives without waiting for a brief
- • Deep understanding of customer psychology in financial contexts and experience using feedback to refine messaging
- • Ability to mentor writers and influence cross-functional teams on tone, voice, and narrative strategy
