- • Provide pragmatic legal advice across a broad range of areas including financial services regulation, contract law, pensions law, data protection, employment law, and intellectual property rights to support Seccl’s day-to-day operations.
- • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts with suppliers, client firms, customers, and third parties, ensuring alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
- • Partner directly with product, technology, operations, and commercial teams to advise on strategic initiatives and new product propositions, translating legal risks into actionable business guidance.
- • Identify, assess, and manage legal risks while enabling innovation and scalable growth within the wealth tech sector.
- • Support corporate governance and company secretarial functions, including board documentation, statutory filings, and compliance with corporate legal obligations.
- • Develop and implement scalable legal processes, templates, and internal guidance to reduce reliance on external counsel and improve efficiency across the business.
- • Manage external legal counsel when necessary, ensuring cost-effective and timely resolution of complex legal matters.
- • Communicate legal concepts clearly and concisely to non-legal stakeholders, ensuring understanding and buy-in across departments.
- • Operate with a high degree of autonomy, taking ownership of legal matters from inception to resolution without requiring constant supervision.
- • Contribute to building a legal function that scales with the company’s rapid growth, adapting processes and priorities as the business evolves.
- • Embrace ambiguity and uncertainty inherent in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, proactively identifying opportunities to improve legal support structures.
- • Maintain a solutions-oriented approach that balances legal compliance with practical business outcomes, prioritizing clarity and usability over technical jargon.
- • Act as a trusted advisor across the organization, influencing decision-making and fostering collaboration between legal and non-legal teams.
- • Continuously improve legal workflows through technology adoption and process innovation to enhance productivity and reduce administrative burden.
- • Support the General Counsel in shaping the legal strategy of the company as it scales within the embedded investment platform market.
🎯 Requirements
- • Qualified solicitor in England and Wales or Scotland
- • Experience in private practice, in-house legal roles, or a combination of both
- • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- • Strong drafting, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
- • Experience advising on financial services regulation, data protection, or pensions law
- • Comfort using technology to streamline legal processes and improve efficiency
