  • • Serve as the primary legal expert for Anduril’s real estate, facilities, and project management teams, specializing in construction law from the perspective of an owner, developer, or tenant.
  • • Draft, negotiate, and review a broad range of construction-related agreements including Owner-General Contractor contracts (Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, CM at Risk), design professional agreements (architects, engineers), consultant contracts, subcontractor agreements, performance and payment bonds, lien waivers, and project-specific insurance riders.
  • • Provide strategic legal guidance throughout the entire construction project lifecycle—from procurement and contracting to close-out—ensuring timelines are accelerated and obstacles are resolved with urgency.
  • • Represent Anduril in negotiations with general contractors, subcontractors, architects, engineers, and other project stakeholders to secure optimal risk allocation and favorable contractual terms.
  • • Manage and advise on construction claims, disputes, delays, defects, warranty issues, and payment disputes, including developing resolution strategies for litigation, arbitration, or settlement with a bias for swift action.
  • • Develop, standardize, and maintain internal construction contract templates, playbooks, and processes to enhance efficiency, consistency, and risk management across all Anduril construction projects.
  • • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local construction laws, building codes, licensing requirements, and defense contracting regulations applicable to Anduril’s facilities and projects.
  • • Collaborate with the compliance function to ensure adherence to environmental laws, zoning regulations, and land-use restrictions relevant to large-scale construction and facility operations.
  • • Conduct legal due diligence for construction-related aspects of property acquisitions, major leases, and project financings.
  • • Advise internal business units on the legal implications of project schedules, budgets, and quality control, providing pragmatic, business-oriented solutions that align with operational goals.
  • • Leverage legal research platforms, contract lifecycle management systems, and project management software to optimize workflows and improve efficiency in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • • Work full-time in Anduril’s Costa Mesa, California office; remote or hybrid arrangements are not available due to the need for in-person collaboration.
  • • Maintain active bar membership in at least one U.S. state and obtain authorization to practice in California (via bar membership or Registered In-House Counsel status).
  • • Operate under the requirement of being a U.S. Person due to access to U.S. export-controlled information and facilities.

🎯 Requirements

  • • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from a top-tier accredited law school
  • • Minimum of 7 years of experience practicing construction law, with significant focus on representing owners, developers, or sophisticated tenants in commercial, industrial, or high-tech construction projects
  • • Active membership in good standing with the bar in at least one U.S. state, with ability to become authorized to practice in California
  • • Demonstrated expertise in drafting, negotiating, and interpreting AIA document families (e.g., A101, A201, B101, C401) and ConsensusDocs
  • • Proven ability to thrive in a high-volume, rapidly evolving environment while managing multiple complex construction projects under tight deadlines
  • • Must be a U.S. Person due to required access to U.S. export-controlled information or facilities
