- • Translate content between English and native Kannada while preserving cultural nuance, tone, and contextual relevance across digital platforms.
- • Edit and refine translated content for accuracy, clarity, and linguistic fidelity to ensure high-quality deliverables.
- • Apply current language standards, usage trends, and industry best practices to all translation and editing tasks.
- • Evaluate and provide structured feedback to improve the quality of language models used in AI-driven translation systems.
- • Collaborate with Production and cross-functional teams to localize digital content for Kannada-speaking markets.
- • Support content development, localization, and quality assurance processes for software applications, websites, and digital tools.
- • Perform transcreation when required, creatively adapting source text to ensure natural, culturally appropriate expression in Kannada.
- • Work independently on varied projects spanning industries including Life Sciences, IT, Marketing, Legal, and Finance.
- • Maintain consistent turnaround times by delivering high-quality work within agreed deadlines.
- • Accept tasks requiring a minimum of 2 hours per day or 10 hours per week, with work availability subject to fluctuating project demand.
- • Operate as an independent contractor with full autonomy over scheduling, choosing when and how much to work.
- • Ensure all deliverables meet Lilt’s linguistic and quality benchmarks without direct supervision or micromanagement.
- • Contribute to a global community of linguists and language professionals advancing human-machine communication through AI-enhanced translation.
- • Expand professional expertise by engaging with diverse, innovative projects that build portfolio depth across multiple domains.
- • Maintain reliable availability and commitment to project deadlines once tasks are accepted.
- • Ensure work complies with ISO 17100 certification criteria through relevant educational or experiential qualifications.
- • Adhere to Lilt’s privacy and data handling policies throughout the translation workflow.
- • Be responsible for own tax obligations as a 1099 contractor, with no employer-provided benefits such as health insurance, paid time off, or retirement contributions.
- • Participate in optional domain-specific testing as part of the onboarding process to verify language proficiency and subject matter expertise.
- • Complete onboarding steps including submission of application form, payment setup, and account activation after passing assessment.
🎯 Requirements
- • Native-level proficiency in Kannada
- • ISO 17100 Certification Criteria: Either a recognized graduate qualification in translation, linguistics, or language studies OR a recognized graduate qualification in any other field plus two years of full-time professional translation experience OR five years of full-time professional translation experience
- • Reliable internet access and ability to commit to a minimum of 2 hours per day or 10 hours per week
- • Ability to work independently as an independent contractor with no guaranteed hours or benefits
- • Willingness to pass a domain-specific translation test during onboarding
- • Valid address in India, not subject to international embargo or sanctions
