Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Serve as the primary loss-control authority for the greater Phoenix territory, conducting on-site evaluations of policyholder workplaces to identify hazards, quantify risk, and craft actionable safety strategies that directly reduce workers’ compensation claims and premium costs.
- • Own and manage a dynamic book of business—ranging from construction and manufacturing to healthcare and service industries—by scheduling and executing comprehensive site visits, analyzing loss-run data, and prioritizing interventions that deliver the greatest measurable impact on frequency and severity.
- • Translate complex regulatory language into practical guidance: interpret OSHA 1910/1926, ISO 45001, NFPA, and state-specific standards for frontline supervisors and C-suite executives alike, ensuring every recommendation is both compliant and cost-effective.
- • Design and deliver engaging, OSHA-aligned training sessions (in English and Spanish when needed) on topics such as fall protection, machine guarding, ergonomics, and emergency response; leave behind customized toolkits, checklists, and e-learning modules that sustain behavior change long after you drive away.
- • Partner with underwriters to translate field observations into concise risk narratives that influence pricing, deductible levels, and carrier appetite; your data-driven reports will become the cornerstone of renewal negotiations and new-business quotes.
- • Investigate incidents using root-cause methodologies—Fishbone, 5-Why, Fault-Tree, and TapRooT—to uncover systemic failures, quantify financial exposure, and present leadership with prioritized corrective actions that prevent recurrence.
- • Build and audit safety management systems from the ground up: draft policies, calibrate KPIs, establish leading-indicator dashboards, and guide clients through certification or recertification under ISO 45001 or ANSI Z10.
- • Develop emergency-response and business-continuity plans that address fire, severe weather, chemical release, and active-shooter scenarios; coordinate tabletop and full-scale drills to validate effectiveness and regulatory compliance.
- • Leverage advanced analytics—Power BI, Excel pivot tables, and carrier proprietary platforms—to mine loss data for trends, benchmark against industry metrics, and present quarterly executive briefings that showcase ROI and program maturity.
- • Mentor junior loss-control staff and broker partners through ride-alongs, lunch-and-learns, and joint client meetings; share best practices that elevate the entire regional safety network.
- • Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion in every interaction—tailor training materials for multicultural audiences, advocate for accommodations, and ensure all workers feel seen, heard, and protected.
- • Maintain a relentless travel schedule—up to 70 % by car and occasional regional flights—to cover construction sites in Scottsdale, manufacturing plants in Tempe, healthcare systems in downtown Phoenix, and distribution centers extending to Flagstaff and Tucson; overnight stays are expected 1–2 nights per week during peak periods.
- • Contribute to special projects such as large-account stewardship meetings, catastrophe response teams, and internal safety-culture initiatives that reinforce BHHC’s reputation as the carrier that “shows up when it counts.”
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Health Sciences, or related discipline (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
- • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel extensively throughout Arizona with occasional overnights
- • Minimum 3 years of hands-on loss control or occupational safety experience, preferably within workers’ compensation insurance
- • Demonstrated expertise in OSHA 1910/1926, ISO 45001, and ANSI standards; associate or professional safety certification (ASP, GSP, OHST, CSP) preferred
- • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, data-analysis tools, and risk-assessment methodologies such as FMEA, Fault-Tree, and Bow-Tie analysis

- • Company vehicle or mileage reimbursement, laptop, mobile phone, and home-office stipend for remote workdays
- • Tuition reimbursement up to $5,250 per year and professional certification support (CSP, ARM, CRM)
