  • • As a Loss Mitigation Liaison I at Manufacturers and Traders Trust Company, you will serve as the critical Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for borrowers navigating the complex landscape of loss mitigation and foreclosure processes. This role is pivotal in guiding individuals through challenging financial times, ensuring they understand their options and receive the support needed to resolve their mortgage delinquency.
  • • Your primary responsibility will involve managing a dedicated portfolio of mortgage loan borrowers who are behind on their payments. You will proactively engage with these individuals through both inbound and outbound calls, offering solutions and guidance while strictly adhering to all federal and state laws and regulations governing consumer collection activities. This requires a delicate balance of empathy, professionalism, and regulatory compliance.
  • • A key aspect of your role will be to thoroughly understand the investor's waterfall and the specific documentation required for various loss mitigation options. You will be responsible for collecting essential consumer financial information and meticulously assisting borrowers in reviewing and completing the necessary loss mitigation documents. This involves explaining complex financial terms and processes in a clear, understandable manner.
  • • You will be the primary communicator of loss mitigation decisions, clearly explaining the terms of approvals or declines. Crucially, you will articulate the rationale behind each decision and inform borrowers of their options to appeal or re-apply, fostering a transparent and supportive experience.
  • • When necessary, you will also communicate liquidation options and provide clear explanations of the foreclosure process. This requires a comprehensive understanding of the legal and procedural aspects of foreclosure, presented with sensitivity and clarity to borrowers.
  • • Maintaining a strong commitment to compliance and operational risk controls is paramount. You will be expected to adhere to all Company and regulatory standards and policies, ensuring that all interactions and processes are conducted with the highest level of integrity and adherence to legal frameworks.
  • • You will also be responsible for upholding M&T's internal control standards. This includes the timely implementation of recommendations from internal and external audits, as well as addressing any issues raised by external regulators. Your diligence in these areas contributes to the overall stability and trustworthiness of the bank.
  • • Beyond the core responsibilities, you will contribute to fostering an inclusive environment that reflects the M&T Bank brand. This means promoting a culture of belonging and ensuring that all interactions, both internal and external, align with the bank's values.
  • • This role offers a unique opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of borrowers facing financial hardship. By providing expert guidance and compassionate support, you will help individuals find viable solutions and navigate one of the most significant financial challenges they may encounter.
  • • You will be expected to complete other related duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to contribute to the team's overall success. This may involve assisting with various projects or tasks that support the loss mitigation department's objectives.
  • • The scope of your responsibilities centers on maintaining direct, impactful contact with consumers, acting as their trusted advisor and advocate throughout a critical period.
  • • This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to manage a diverse caseload efficiently and effectively. You will be empowered to make informed decisions and provide solutions that align with both borrower needs and company policies.
  • • Success in this role hinges on your ability to build rapport, de-escalate challenging situations, and provide clear, actionable advice. You will be a key player in helping M&T Bank maintain strong customer relationships even during difficult financial circumstances.
