  • • As a Manager, Content Development at Clio, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of legal technology by leading a team of highly skilled Content Developers. This pivotal role combines technical leadership with people management, focusing on building and maintaining robust web crawlers and scrapers that fuel our AI-driven legal solutions. You will be responsible for guiding your team to deliver high-quality, reliable data extraction pipelines, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
  • • Your core mission will involve mentoring and developing your team members, fostering their technical growth, and ensuring successful project delivery. You will set clear expectations for performance, quality, and operational excellence, creating a supportive and productive environment where every team member can thrive. This includes providing hands-on technical guidance, conducting thorough code reviews, and promoting continuous learning to maintain consistently high engineering standards.
  • • A significant aspect of your role will be overseeing the technical stewardship of our content acquisition infrastructure. This involves ensuring the team builds and maintains reliable web crawlers and scrapers using modern tools like Node.js, Puppeteer, and Playwright. You will guide the implementation of resilient scraping strategies, incorporating mechanisms for retries, throttling, schema validation, and robust error handling to ensure data integrity and pipeline stability.
  • • You will also be responsible for the operational readiness of these pipelines, ensuring they remain performant, observable, and easy to maintain. This includes partnering closely with broader engineering teams to plan and implement improvements to pipeline infrastructure, storage systems, and integration points, contributing to the overall robustness of our data ecosystem.
  • • Data transformation and quality assurance are paramount. You will ensure that data extracted from a wide variety of sources—including HTML, JSON, XML, PDFs, Word documents, and images—is accurately transformed into structured schemas. Establishing rigorous standards for normalization, validation, and testing across all content development work will be key to maintaining the high quality of our data assets.
  • • You will oversee automated test coverage, ensure deterministic pipeline behavior, and meticulously document edge cases. Leading root-cause analysis for recurring data quality issues and driving long-term, sustainable fixes will be a critical responsibility, ensuring the reliability and trustworthiness of the data that powers Clio's AI.
  • • Project and workstream stewardship involves translating strategic priorities from Product and Content leadership into actionable execution plans for your team. You will manage project scope, timelines, risks, and dependencies using agile methodologies and tools like Linear, ensuring the team operates autonomously and reliably to deliver high-quality results.
  • • You will be the primary point of contact for project status updates, proactively surfacing risks, and ensuring seamless alignment across engineering, content, and product stakeholders. Your ability to manage multiple workstreams effectively will be crucial for the team's success.
  • • Documentation and knowledge management are essential for scalability and collaboration. You will own the standards for technical documentation, including runbooks, setup guides, architectural notes, and troubleshooting resources. Ensuring this documentation is consistently maintained and accessible will support team scalability and foster cross-functional collaboration.
  • • You will drive knowledge sharing initiatives and promote the adoption of internal tools across the Content Development function, building a culture of continuous improvement and shared expertise. This role offers a unique opportunity to blend your technical expertise with your leadership skills in a fast-paced, innovative environment, contributing directly to Clio's mission of transforming the legal experience.
