- • Lead and grow a team of Forward Deployed Engineers delivering production systems with frontier models, ensuring high-stakes customer deployments are executed with technical excellence and business impact.
- • Own end-to-end delivery outcomes by driving clarity, speed, coordination, and technical quality while translating field insights into actionable feedback for Product and Research teams.
- • Partner with Product, Research, Sales, and GTM to ensure fieldwork informs roadmap priorities, drives exploration, and supports safe, scalable deployment of OpenAI’s technologies.
- • Operate in a hybrid model in Munich with 3 days in-office per week, requiring up to 25% travel, and contribute to a mission-driven culture focused on safe and beneficial AI deployment.
- • Define scaling strategies for field teams, codify best practices into tools and playbooks, and foster team growth through direct feedback and judgment-based leadership under pressure.
🎯 Requirements
- • 8+ years of engineering or technical delivery experience, including 2+ years managing high-performing Forward Deployed or customer-facing engineers.
- • Proven ability to lead high-pressure technical projects from prototype to production.
- • Experience writing and reviewing production-grade code in JavaScript or Python across frontend and backend systems.
- • Skill in simplifying complex work and making fast, sound decisions under ambiguous or evolving conditions.
- • Demonstrated ability to elevate team performance through clarity, judgment, and calm leadership rather than excessive process.
- • Experience translating field experience into sharp, actionable feedback for Product and Research teams.
