📋 Description
- • Lead customs duty mitigation initiatives focused on civil aircraft programs and aerospace-related tariff exemptions, ensuring alignment with U.S. Customs regulations and aerospace-specific trade programs.
- • Manage compliance strategies for Civil Aircraft Agreement eligibility, HTS classification, tariff engineering, Section 301, Section 232, and IEEPA mitigation opportunities, as well as USMCA and other Free Trade Agreements.
- • Provide strategic guidance on import declarations, country of origin determination, customs valuation, and preferential trade claims to optimize compliance and reduce financial risk.
- • Review and validate Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classifications and special tariff provisions applicable to aerospace products and components to ensure accuracy and regulatory adherence.
- • Partner cross-functionally with Global Trade, Supply Chain, Engineering, Procurement, Finance, and external customs brokers to align import operations with compliance and cost-saving objectives.
- • Support audits, government inquiries, disclosures, and broker management activities related to customs compliance, including post-entry corrections and protests.
- • Develop, maintain, and update import compliance procedures, work instructions, and internal controls to standardize global trade processes and reduce operational risk.
- • Monitor regulatory changes affecting aerospace imports and communicate business impacts, timelines, and required actions to leadership and relevant stakeholders.
- • Support implementation, optimization, and integration of trade compliance processes within ERP systems such as SAP and dedicated customs platforms.
- • Deliver training and guidance to cross-functional teams on customs compliance requirements, duty mitigation strategies, and regulatory updates to enhance organizational knowledge and consistency.
- • Interface directly with customs brokers, outside legal counsel, government agencies (e.g., CBP), and industry trade groups to represent company interests and resolve complex compliance matters.
- • Identify opportunities for duty savings, process improvements, and risk reduction across global supply chains through data-driven analysis of import data and tariff structures.
- • Apply strategic thinking and regulatory interpretation skills to navigate complex trade environments and operationalize compliance within fast-paced aerospace manufacturing contexts.
- • Maintain attention to detail in all documentation, filings, and internal controls to ensure audit readiness and minimize exposure to penalties or delays.
- • Drive process improvement initiatives to streamline import workflows and increase efficiency in global trade operations.
