- • HackerOne is seeking a dynamic and experienced Engineering Manager to lead a high-performing team focused on building impactful, customer-centric products with a strong emphasis on an AI-first approach. This pivotal role involves guiding talented engineers, including senior and staff-level AI specialists, in the development of cutting-edge AI capabilities such as Large Language Models (LLMs), agentic systems, and advanced AI platform functionalities. You will be instrumental in shaping the future of HackerOne's platform by driving innovation and ensuring the delivery of reliable, scalable, and secure solutions that address the evolving threat landscape.
- • As an Engineering Manager, you will champion an AI-first philosophy across all product development and engineering workflows. This means fostering an environment where the team can effectively design, rigorously evaluate, and seamlessly ship complex AI features. Your leadership will be crucial in areas like developing sophisticated agentic systems, implementing Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines, establishing robust model evaluation frameworks, and creating automated security intelligence solutions. You will ensure that the team is at the forefront of AI innovation within the cybersecurity domain.
- • Collaboration is key to success in this role. You will partner closely with Product Management and Design teams to meticulously define product goals, scope, and critical success metrics. This cross-functional partnership ensures alignment and a shared vision for delivering exceptional customer value. Your ability to translate strategic objectives into actionable engineering plans will be paramount.
- • You will be responsible for instilling and maintaining strong execution practices within your team, ensuring predictable and high-quality delivery of software. This includes setting clear performance expectations for engineers working on highly sophisticated AI systems. You will guide them in areas such as LLM reasoning, AI safety protocols, agentic design patterns, Machine Learning Operations (MLOps), and the optimization of model-serving infrastructure. Holding the team to an exceptionally high standard of technical excellence and output is a core responsibility.
- • A significant aspect of your role will be to coach and mentor engineers, fostering their professional development and supporting their career growth. You will be instrumental in raising the overall talent bar of the engineering organization by actively developing existing team members and strategically hiring individuals who possess the capabilities to excel at Senior AI Engineer levels and beyond. Your ability to identify, attract, and onboard top-tier talent with strong product and AI expertise will directly impact the team's success.
- • You will also contribute to broader organizational initiatives, driving improvements across the engineering department and helping to establish company-wide AI adoption standards. This includes sharing best practices, promoting knowledge transfer, and ensuring consistency in how AI is integrated and leveraged across HackerOne's product portfolio.
- • The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, with prior hands-on experience as a software engineer, enabling them to engage deeply with engineers on complex AI technologies. This technical fluency is essential for providing effective guidance and making informed decisions. You will leverage data-driven decision-making to guide prioritization, manage trade-offs, and accurately assess team performance, ensuring that efforts are focused on the most impactful initiatives.
- • Furthermore, you will apply and model First-Principles Problem Solving when addressing challenges and evaluating intricate technical decisions, encouraging a culture of deep understanding and innovative solutions. Your Change Agility will be vital, demonstrating experience in leading teams through evolving requirements, rapidly advancing AI capabilities, and shifting product strategies, ensuring resilience and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
- • This role is based in London, UK, or within approximately 50 miles of the city, reflecting HackerOne's flexible work approach that balances remote work benefits with opportunities for in-person collaboration and connection. You will be a key leader in a company that is at the forefront of Continuous Threat Exposure Management (CTEM), combining AI-powered solutions with the world's largest community of security researchers to help leading organizations safeguard their digital ecosystems.
