- • As a Manager, Software Engineering focused on Enhancements and Account Maintenance at Alkami Technology, you will lead a team responsible for building and maintaining core digital banking experiences used by both bank administrators and end customers. This role is critical to ensuring the reliability, scalability, and usability of Alkami’s platform, which powers onboarding, digital banking, and data-driven marketing solutions for U.S. financial institutions. Your leadership will directly impact how banks onboard new customers, manage accounts, and deliver seamless digital experiences—contributing to the company’s mission of enabling Anticipatory Banking through technology that drives action.
- • You will align engineering strategy with organizational goals by setting clear team priorities, translating complex product requirements into actionable technical plans, and evolving the mid-term technical roadmap to anticipate future infrastructure and feature needs. This includes designing and vetting system architectures, guiding technical decisions across teams, and ensuring that investments in platform capabilities are optimized for performance, cost, and long-term sustainability.
- • Day-to-day, you will manage and mentor a high-performing engineering team by setting clear expectations based on role and level, conducting regular one-on-ones for performance and development feedback, and providing coaching to support individual growth. You will actively participate in hands-on development, writing production-grade code with strong documentation and test coverage, while also reviewing code from teammates to uphold best practices in style, accuracy, testability, and efficiency.
- • You will collaborate closely with Product Management in creative brainstorming sessions to refine requirements, address technical debt, and prioritize feature development. This includes participating in requirement workshops, helping shape user-facing flows, and ensuring that API integrations with third-party services like Plaid (for financial data) and SendGrid (for email notifications) are robust, secure, and well-documented.
- • A key part of your role involves monitoring system health by reviewing infrastructure metrics, SLAs, and quality indicators to ensure the platform meets current and future demands. You will drive continuous improvement by identifying bottlenecks, advocating for necessary technical investments, and fostering a culture of reliability through proactive error handling, logging, and edge case analysis.
- • You will help shape Alkami’s engineering culture by mentoring junior engineers, promoting knowledge sharing, and raising the overall technical bar through thoughtful guidance and consistent code reviews. Your systems thinking mindset will be essential in balancing innovation with stability, ensuring that new features are not only functional but also maintainable, scalable, and aligned with long-term architectural goals.
- • About the team and company: You will join a remote-first engineering organization at Alkami, a recognized leader in fintech known for its intentional culture, rapid growth, and commitment to employee development. The company has been honored as a Best Place to Work in Fintech, received accolades for Best Engineering Team and Best Career Growth, and fosters an environment where individuals are empowered to perform at their highest potential. As part of a company that values alchemy—transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary—you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to meaningful work that powers the digital transformation of banking across the United States.
- • In this role, you can achieve significant professional growth by strengthening your leadership and technical architecture skills while working on complex, impactful systems at scale. You will gain experience in managing multiple concurrent work streams, influencing cross-team decision-making, and driving both people and platform outcomes. Over time, you’ll have the opportunity to deepen your expertise in distributed systems, API design, event-driven architectures (like Kafka), and cloud-native development—all while contributing to a product that directly supports financial inclusion and innovation in the banking sector.
🎯 Requirements
- • 2 years of experience in a technology leadership role with a proven track record of building and leading high-performing engineering teams
- • Minimum of 8 years of hands-on software engineering experience with strong proficiency in object-oriented programming languages including React.js, TypeScript, Node.js, and Python
- • Strong background in designing and building scalable systems and APIs, including extensive experience with eventing technologies such as Kafka and relational databases like Postgres
🏖️ Benefits
- • Remote-first work environment with the flexibility to work from anywhere in the U.S.
