- • Managing Counsel, Product at Remote Technologies Inc. is a legal role focused on delivering pragmatic and innovative legal solutions for Remote’s products while protecting the company from unacceptable risk, particularly in HRIS and AI/ML features across 90+ jurisdictions.
- • Day to day, the role involves leading AI and HRIS product compliance, embedding risk-based legal reviews into product development, owning product terms and conditions for HRIS and AI features, and establishing core Product AI governance including model inventory, risk classification, and incident response alignment.
- • The Legal team at Remote is a global, highly motivated group of lawyers from diverse countries, working asynchronously to support the mission of enabling compliant global employment through innovative HR-tech solutions.
- • In this role, you will develop expertise in AI regulation (EU AI Act, GDPR, CCPA), HR-tech compliance, and cross-jurisdictional legal strategy, while gaining influence in shaping product innovation with legal guardrails and building governance frameworks for emerging technologies.
🎯 Requirements
- • Qualified lawyer with extensive experience in product counseling, jurisdiction agnostic; multiple bars a plus
- • Product counsel experience in technology, with prior HR-tech exposure (EOR/PEO/HRIS/Payroll) advising at scale across multiple jurisdictions
- • Strong command of emerging AI frameworks (e.g., EU AI Act, UK approach, U.S. state/federal developments, Canada AIDA) and their interplay with data protection (GDPR/CCPA) and employment transparency rules
- • In-house legal experience preferred
- • Startup experience in fast-paced environments considered a bonus
- • Passion for tech and HR tech products
- • Excellent analytical and organizational skills
- • Fluency in English (written and spoken)
- • Tech-savvy with tools like Slack, Juro, Notion, Google Drive, or equivalent
