Full Job Description

đź“‹ Description

  • • Readyset is on a mission to make databases feel instant. Our zero-integration cache turns read-heavy workloads into sub-millisecond experiences by pre-computing and incrementally maintaining the results of every prepared statement. Today, engineering teams at high-growth startups and Fortune 500s alike swap a single connection string and watch p99 latencies drop from hundreds of milliseconds to <1 ms—without touching application code. As our first Marketing Assistant, you will sit at the intersection of product, growth, and community, translating deeply technical wins into crisp, compelling narratives that turn curious developers into lifelong champions.
  • • Own the editorial calendar end-to-end: plan, draft, and ship 2-3 technical blog posts per week that demystify database internals, showcase customer success stories, and position Readyset as the default choice for read-heavy Postgres/MySQL workloads. You’ll interview our engineers, customers, and open-source contributors to extract authentic, metrics-backed stories and package them into posts that routinely land on Hacker News, Reddit r/programming, and database-centric newsletters.
  • • Build and nurture our social presence across Twitter, LinkedIn, and niche Slack/Discord communities. You’ll craft daily threads that break down query-planning gotchas, share benchmark screenshots, and celebrate community pull requests—growing our follower base 5Ă— in your first six months while keeping engagement rates above industry benchmarks.
  • • Launch and manage a monthly developer newsletter that reaches 10 k+ subscribers. You’ll segment audiences (backend engineers, DevOps, CTOs), A/B test subject lines, and iterate on content formats (deep dives vs. quick tips) to drive 30 % average open rates and 8 % click-through rates.
  • • Design lightweight demand-gen campaigns in HubSpot and Product-Led-Growth tooling. You’ll build automated email sequences triggered by GitHub stars, docs page views, or OSS Slack sign-ups—turning top-of-funnel interest into booked demos for our sales team.
  • • Produce concise, visually polished one-pagers, slide decks, and battle cards for Sales and Solutions Engineering. When prospects ask, “How is this different from Redis or Materialize?” you’ll hand reps a crisp 2-page PDF with latency benchmarks, cost comparisons, and architecture diagrams that close deals faster.
  • • Collaborate with Product and Developer Relations to host quarterly virtual meetups and lightning talks. You’ll secure speakers from marquee customers, promote events across channels, and repurpose recordings into evergreen blog and video content that keeps generating leads long after the live stream ends.
  • • Track, analyze, and report on content performance using Google Analytics, HubSpot, and Amplitude. You’ll build a real-time dashboard that surfaces which topics, channels, and CTAs drive the highest sign-up-to-SQL conversion, then double-down on winners and ruthlessly sunset under-performers.
  • • Champion our open-source ethos: maintain a public Trello roadmap of content ideas sourced from GitHub issues, shepherd community-authored guest posts, and ensure every tutorial repo has a README that’s as polished as our landing pages.
  • • Be the voice of the user inside the company. Aggregate feedback from forums, support tickets, and NPS surveys into monthly “Voice of Dev” briefs that inform roadmap prioritization and messaging pivots.
  • • Experiment fearlessly. Whether it’s launching a TikTok channel for quick SQL tips or sponsoring a niche podcast for data engineers, you’ll propose, test, and iterate on growth experiments with a clear hypothesis, success metric, and retro process.

🎯 Requirements

  • • 1-3 years of experience in content, growth, or developer-marketing roles at a B2B SaaS or open-source company
  • • Demonstrated ability to write clear, engaging technical content—please share 2-3 public samples (blog posts, newsletters, or GitHub READMEs)
  • • Hands-on familiarity with SQL and basic database concepts; you can read an EXPLAIN plan and translate it into plain English
  • • Proficiency with modern marketing tools: HubSpot (or similar CRM), Google Analytics, and at least one social scheduling platform
  • • Nice-to-have: experience producing short-form video or podcast content, and active participation in developer communities like Hacker News, r/PostgreSQL, or the CNCF Slack

🏖️ Benefits

  • • Fully remote culture with quarterly in-person off-sites in locations voted on by the team
  • • Competitive salary benchmarked to 75th percentile of US tech markets, plus equity in a fast-growing, well-funded startup
  • • $2 k annual professional-development stipend for courses, conferences, or certifications
  • • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage for you and dependents, with 100 % of premiums covered by Readyset
  • • Flexible PTO policy with a 3-week minimum to ensure you actually unplug
