- • Teach 11-week live, synchronous online mathematics courses in Quantitative Reasoning (MATH 125), College Algebra (MATH 175), Calculus I (MATH 200), and Statistics (STAT 210), each worth 4 quarter credits.
- • Deliver instruction using engaging, student-centered strategies that emphasize mathematical reasoning, interpretation, and evidence evaluation as transferable intellectual skills, not just procedural computation.
- • Foster an inclusive and supportive virtual classroom environment that promotes active learning, student participation, and reduces math anxiety while maintaining high academic standards.
- • Make consistent real-world connections to help students understand the relevance of mathematical concepts in academic, professional, and everyday contexts.
- • Provide timely, constructive feedback on student work and respond to all student inquiries within 24 hours.
- • Host weekly office hours to deepen student understanding, build community, and offer individualized support.
- • Collaborate with Teaching Assistants to co-manage course logistics, including mentoring TAs on effective grading practices and student engagement techniques.
- • Evaluate student progress, maintain accurate grade records, and submit mid-quarter and end-of-quarter grades on schedule.
- • Work with the Curriculum Operations team and Program Director to contribute to ongoing course refinement, revision, and pedagogical improvements.
- • Participate in co-curricular programming designed to enrich the student learning experience beyond the classroom.
- • Stay current on trends in mathematics pedagogy, online teaching tools, and best practices for supporting nontraditional and historically underserved learners.
- • Commit 8–10 hours per week per course, with flexibility to accommodate training and scheduling across academic quarters.
- • Teach using Campus’s all-in-one platform, Campuswire, with administrative and technical support provided by a dedicated Academic Operations team.
- • Engage with a national network of faculty from top-tier institutions committed to equity, access, and innovation in higher education.
🎯 Requirements
- • Master's degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related field
- • At least 3 years of college-level mathematics teaching experience
- • Demonstrated ability to teach mathematical reasoning and interpretation as transferable intellectual skills, not only procedural computation
- • Strong content knowledge across quantitative reasoning, algebra, and introductory statistics
- • Experience making abstract mathematical concepts concrete and relevant through real-world applications
- • Comfort teaching students with varying levels of mathematical preparation and confidence
