As a Mechanical Engineer II, you will play a pivotal role in the design ownership of next-generation, life-saving technologies, contributing to work that has high visibility across the organization.
- • This role is based in our San Francisco office, operating on a hybrid schedule that emphasizes in-person collaboration Tuesdays through Fridays, with remote flexibility on Mondays. This structure is designed to foster meaningful teamwork, mentorship, and shared success, recognizing that connection fuels innovation.
- • You will drive innovative product development from the initial conceptualization phase all the way through to manufacturing, ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of quality and performance.
- • Employ creative problem-solving skills to develop, prototype, and validate concepts for both subsystem and full system designs, pushing the boundaries of what's possible in public safety technology.
- • Construct and rigorously test high-fidelity prototypes at both the subsystem and full system levels, gathering critical data to inform design iterations and ensure robust functionality.
- • Conduct detailed mechanical analysis, including Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and tolerance analysis, alongside practical testing and exploratory methods, to guarantee proper function and durability under demanding conditions.
- • Collaborate closely and regularly with a diverse range of domestic and international stakeholders, including product managers, electrical engineers, industrial designers, and manufacturing teams, ensuring seamless integration and alignment across disciplines.

- • Maintain and preserve the integrity of Industrial Design intent throughout the development process, balancing aesthetic considerations with functional requirements.
- • Effectively manage and prioritize conflicting design constraints by leveraging a combination of rigorous analysis, practical testing, and innovative creativity.
- • Contribute to a candid, cross-functional team culture where open communication and constructive feedback are valued, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.
- • Gain exposure to and contribute to the design of products that require a high level of dust and water ingress protection, ensuring reliability in challenging environments.
- • Engage with electro-mechanical integration, including experience with PCB/PCBA flex circuits, ensuring seamless interaction between mechanical and electronic components.
- • Apply strong Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) skills, with a particular emphasis on part and assembly tolerance management, to ensure robust designs suitable for high-volume manufacturing.
- • Develop a deep understanding of and experience with typical production processes, including plastic injection molding, stamped sheet metal, die casting, and CNC machining, to inform design decisions.
- • Gain familiarity with adhesives and bonded joint design principles to ensure strong and reliable assembly of components.
- • Contribute to the continuous improvement of our product development processes, sharing insights and best practices with the team.
- • Prepare and deliver clear and concise technical documentation and presentations to communicate design progress, analysis results, and recommendations to stakeholders at all levels.
