- • Serve as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) at Roots Behavioral Health, providing both clinical and administrative support in an outpatient mental health setting.
- • Perform accurate vital signs measurements including blood pressure, temperature, and pulse as part of patient intake and ongoing care.
- • Administer medications to patients under the direct supervision and direction of licensed healthcare providers, adhering strictly to established protocols.
- • Start and monitor IV infusions with precision and clinical awareness, ensuring patient safety during treatment.
- • Assist with basic life support procedures when required, maintaining readiness for emergency situations.
- • Conduct phlebotomy procedures for laboratory testing, ensuring proper labeling, handling, and documentation of specimens.
- • Prioritize and complete payor authorizations for medication management appointments to ensure uninterrupted patient care.
- • Prepare and maintain patient charts, ensuring all clinical and administrative documentation is accurate, timely, and compliant with regulatory standards.
- • Verify patient insurance benefits and resolve coverage issues to facilitate seamless access to treatment services.
- • Schedule patient appointments and manage calendar logistics across multiple clinic locations.
- • Maintain proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems, with specific experience in ATHENA preferred.
- • Apply strong knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and medical terminology in daily clinical tasks.
- • Collaborate effectively with clinicians, nurses, and administrative staff to support integrated, patient-centered mental health care.
- • Demonstrate familiarity with treatment-resistant therapy methods and their associated clinical protocols.
- • Provide compassionate, ethical, and resilient support to patients navigating complex mental health conditions.
- • Transition from initial training at the downtown Austin location (1524 S. IH-35 Frontage Road, Suite 202) to primary assignment at the Northland Clinic (3307 Northland Drive, Suite 460) after 2–4 months.
- • Uphold the organization’s mission of delivering evidence-based, individualized mental health care through professional conduct and clinical excellence.
🎯 Requirements
- • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential with minimum 2 years of experience
- • Proficient in performing vital signs measurements and phlebotomy
- • Experience with EHR systems, with ATHENA preferred
- • Knowledge of medication administration protocols and medical terminology
- • Familiarity with treatment-resistant therapy methods
- • Strong administrative skills including appointment scheduling and insurance verification
