- • Lead the design, architecture, and delivery of Postman’s next-generation AI agents that will redefine how 40 million developers interact with APIs. You will own the full technical vision—from whiteboard sketches to production-grade systems—ensuring every agent is fast, reliable, and delightful to use.
- • Build and scale autonomous agents capable of generating, testing, documenting, and monitoring APIs without human intervention. Your code will run against millions of real-world API calls daily, learning continuously from user feedback and telemetry to improve accuracy and performance.
- • Partner directly with Product, Design, and Research to translate complex user pain points into elegant agent behaviors. You will run rapid experiments, A/B tests, and user studies to validate hypotheses and iterate at startup speed while maintaining the stability expected by Fortune 500 customers.
- • Establish the technical roadmap for agent orchestration, prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, and fine-tuning pipelines. You will make critical decisions on model selection, latency budgets, cost optimization, and data privacy that balance cutting-edge innovation with enterprise-grade security.
- • Mentor a distributed team of backend, ML, and full-stack engineers across time zones. You will conduct architecture reviews, set coding standards, and create reusable libraries that accelerate development across all Postman squads.
- • Instrument comprehensive observability into every agent—distributed tracing, real-time metrics, and anomaly detection—so the team can detect regressions within minutes and ship fixes with zero downtime.
- • Champion responsible AI practices by embedding fairness, transparency, and ethical guidelines into the agent lifecycle. You will collaborate with Legal and Security to ensure SOC 2, GDPR, and ISO 27001 compliance for every new feature.
- • Contribute to Postman’s open-source ethos by publishing research, speaking at conferences, and releasing SDKs that let the broader community extend and customize AI agents for their own use cases.
- • Drive cross-functional initiatives that integrate agents into Postman Flows, Monitors, and Mock Servers, turning static collections into living, self-healing API ecosystems.
- • Stay ahead of the rapidly evolving AI landscape—evaluating new foundation models, vector databases, and orchestration frameworks—and make pragmatic adoption decisions that keep Postman at the forefront of developer tooling.
🎯 Requirements
- • 7+ years shipping production backend systems at scale, with at least 2 years leading technical teams in a remote-first environment.
- • Proven expertise in designing and deploying LLM-powered applications, including prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, and fine-tuning workflows.
- • Deep fluency in Python, Node.js, or Go, plus hands-on experience with cloud-native stacks (Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform) on AWS or GCP.
- • Track record of building observable, fault-tolerant services that handle millions of requests per day with sub-second latency and 99.9% uptime.
- • Nice-to-have: Contributions to open-source AI/ML projects, publications at NeurIPS/ICML, or patents in conversational AI or API technologies.
