Mid-Senior Backend Software Engineer (Node.js)

📋 Description

• • Own the full lifecycle of backend services that power the online success of 4 million customers across 150 countries. You will architect, build, and continuously improve Node.js micro-services that handle everything from user onboarding to payment processing, ensuring 99.9 % uptime and sub-second response times.
• • Translate product vision into scalable technical solutions. Work shoulder-to-shoulder with product managers, designers, and front-end engineers to define API contracts, data models, and service boundaries that allow new features to ship to production weekly without regressions.
• • Design and optimize PostgreSQL schemas, write performant SQL, and implement caching strategies that keep our databases responsive under millions of daily transactions. You will profile slow queries, introduce read-replicas, and decide when to shard or denormalize for maximum speed.
• • Build bullet-proof REST and GraphQL APIs that are consumed by web, mobile, and third-party partners. You will enforce security best practices (OWASP, rate-limiting, JWT, OAuth), version endpoints gracefully, and generate OpenAPI documentation that developers love to read.
• • Integrate external services—payment gateways, email providers, analytics platforms—through resilient adapters that handle network failures, retries, and idempotency. You will abstract these integrations behind clean interfaces so the rest of the codebase remains vendor-agnostic.
• • Containerize services with Docker, orchestrate them in Kubernetes, and automate CI/CD pipelines in GitLab. You will write Helm charts, configure health checks, and monitor deployments with Prometheus and Grafana to detect anomalies before customers notice.
• • Champion automated testing at every layer: unit tests with Jest, integration tests against real databases, and contract tests that guarantee backward compatibility. You will set coverage thresholds and gate merges on green builds to maintain a culture of quality.
• • Mentor mid-level and junior engineers through pair programming, thorough code reviews, and lightning talks. You will introduce patterns like Clean Architecture, Domain-Driven Design, and event sourcing where they add value, raising the technical bar of the entire squad.
• • Stay ahead of the curve by evaluating new technologies—whether it’s serverless Node.js, edge computing, or Rust micro-services—and run proof-of-concepts that could save milliseconds or millions. Your findings will directly influence Hostinger’s technical roadmap.
• • Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation with fair compensation and a blameless post-mortem culture. When incidents occur, you will lead root-cause analyses, implement preventive measures, and share lessons learned company-wide so the same issue never strikes twice.
