📋 Description

• As a founding ML Engineer on Docker's Intelligence team, you will shape the technical direction and build the first intelligence-driven capabilities that enhance software and agent execution safety, effectiveness, trustworthiness, and efficiency on the Docker platform.
• Day to day, you will design, train, evaluate, and ship ML systems for governance and security (e.g., prompt injection detection, behavioral anomaly detection), build supporting infrastructure like data pipelines and model serving, make pragmatic build-vs-buy decisions, set technical standards for ML work, and help grow the team through mentoring and recruitment.
• You will join a globally distributed, remote-first team at Docker, a trusted leader in developer tooling with over 20 million monthly users, working at the forefront of AI agent enablement where Docker provides the secure, sandboxed environments for autonomous workflows.
• In this role, you will have staff-level impact as a hands-on builder, shaping the foundations of data, evaluation, and infrastructure for a scaling team, while gaining deep experience in production ML systems for high-stakes domains like security and trust, and contributing to Docker’s vision of becoming the runtime for trusted autonomy.

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of deep applied ML/AI expertise with a track record of shipping production systems, preferably in fraud, abuse, safety, security, or trust domains
• 4+ years of professional, hands-on, full-time software engineering experience in backend, infrastructure, or platform engineering
• Experience building and owning end-to-end ML systems including data pipelines, serving, evaluation, and monitoring, with customer-facing product delivery
• Fluency with modern AI tools and LLMs in production, including evaluation, prompt engineering, fine-tuning, retrieval, guardrails, and agent frameworks
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience
