- • As a Model Behavior Tutor at xAI Corporation, you will play a critical role in ensuring that Grok, the company’s advanced AI model, reasons with epistemic rigor, resists cognitive biases, and communicates uncertainty and evidence with intellectual honesty—directly contributing to the development of AI systems that pursue truth and understanding in service of humanity.
- • You will assess model outputs for factual accuracy, logical coherence, and hidden assumptions; identify subtle ideological capture, statistical fallacies, and rhetorical manipulation; write exemplary reasoning that models source evaluation and nuanced confidence calibration; construct adversarial examples and red-team prompts to expose epistemic weaknesses; and help define and scale constitutional principles for truth-seeking AI behavior.
- • xAI is a small, highly motivated team focused on engineering excellence and mission-driven innovation, operating with a flat organizational structure where initiative, hands-on contribution, and strong communication are valued and leadership emerges from consistent excellence and curiosity.
- • You will work remotely from anywhere in the world (subject to legal eligibility and time-zone compatibility), with flexible scheduling options including full-time, part-time, or contractor arrangements, allowing you to contribute to cutting-edge AI safety and alignment research while maintaining autonomy over your work schedule and environment.
- • In this role, you will deepen your expertise in epistemology, cognitive bias mitigation, and AI alignment; sharpen your analytical and red-teaming skills; contribute to foundational research on truthful AI behavior; and collaborate with a mission-focused team pushing the boundaries of how AI systems reason, learn, and interact with complex knowledge domains.
🎯 Requirements
- • Published analytical work and academic training in a high-rigor field such as philosophy of science, cognitive psychology, statistics, logic, linguistics, history, economics, or a related discipline.
- • Demonstrated strong forecasting track record (e.g., Metaculus, Good Judgment Project), rigorous analytical practice, or public documentation of error correction and belief updating.
- • Deep knowledge in at least three of the following areas: philosophy of science, cognitive psychology, statistics, logic, linguistics, history, economics, or related disciplines, with ability to integrate insights across domains.
- • Proven ability to steel-man opposing views, distinguish settled knowledge from speculation, and rely habitually on primary sources and base rates in reasoning.
- • Experience in intelligence analysis, investigative journalism, or academic peer review is preferred but not required.
- • For U.S.-based candidates, eligibility to work in states other than Wyoming and Illinois; no visa sponsorship is available; must use a personal device meeting minimum specs (Chromebook, Mac with macOS 11.0+, or Windows 10+).
