Full Job Description
📋 Description
- • Design motion and animation for AI-powered interface elements including loading states, streaming responses, task progress, and system transitions to communicate system behavior without textual explanations.
- • Develop animation patterns for uncertainty, thinking states, waiting states, failure, recovery, and asynchronous AI processes to enhance user understanding of non-deterministic model behavior.
- • Collaborate with product and UX designers to define how motion supports feedback, confidence cues, and error states in AI-driven workflows.
- • Create detailed motion specs and interactive prototypes that engineers can implement accurately across web and mobile platforms.
- • Define, maintain, and evolve a reusable animation library specifically for AI surfaces to ensure consistency and scalability.
- • Ensure all motion designs meet performance requirements for real-time and latency-sensitive AI interactions, avoiding jank or delays that disrupt user trust.
- • Apply HCI principles to motion design, using animation to reduce user confusion, clarify system state, and signal when attention or action is required.
- • Prioritize utility over decoration: every animation must serve a functional purpose in communicating AI behavior, progress, or uncertainty.
- • Work within technical constraints of modern web and mobile environments to ensure animations are lightweight, performant, and compatible with rendering pipelines.
- • Integrate accessibility considerations into motion design, ensuring animations do not trigger seizures or cause discomfort for users with vestibular or sensory sensitivities.
- • Demonstrate judgment in when to use motion and when to avoid it, balancing clarity with cognitive load in high-stakes task workflows.
- • Contribute to the evolution of motion design principles tailored for AI interfaces, focusing on trust signals, transparency, and user control.
- • Translate abstract AI behaviors — such as multi-step reasoning, tool usage, and context persistence — into intuitive visual cues through timing, easing, and spatial transitions.
- • Iterate rapidly based on feedback from product, engineering, and user testing to refine animation systems that support long-running, persistent workflows.
- • Document and communicate animation guidelines to cross-functional teams to ensure alignment across design, development, and QA.
- • Maintain awareness of emerging tools and techniques in motion design for AI, evaluating their applicability to product needs and technical feasibility.
- • Ensure all motion assets are optimized for performance, including file size, rendering efficiency, and compatibility with Lottie, Rive, or similar frameworks.
- • Advocate for user-centered motion design that reduces cognitive burden, increases predictability, and builds trust in AI systems that operate with imperfect reliability.
