- • Design motion and animation for AI product interfaces, including loading states, streaming responses, task progress, and system transitions to communicate system behavior without text-heavy explanations.
- • Develop animation patterns for uncertainty, thinking states, waiting states, failure, recovery, and asynchronous AI processes to help users understand system status and next steps.
- • Collaborate with product and UX designers to define how motion supports feedback, confidence cues, and error states in AI-driven interactions.
- • Create detailed motion specs and interactive prototypes that engineers can implement accurately across web and mobile platforms.
- • Define and maintain motion design principles and a reusable animation library specifically for AI surfaces to ensure consistency and scalability.
- • Ensure all motion designs are optimized for real-time performance and low-latency environments typical of AI interactions.
- • Use motion as a functional communication tool—not decoration—to reduce user confusion, enhance trust, and clarify AI behavior.
- • Apply HCI principles to motion design, focusing on how animation communicates system state, progress, feedback, and user guidance in AI contexts.
- • Work within technical constraints of mobile and web platforms to deliver performant, accessible animations that align with platform standards.
- • Evaluate when motion enhances user understanding and when it introduces noise, exercising judgment to prioritize clarity over aesthetics.
- • Demonstrate curiosity about how motion can convey AI trust signals, uncertainty, and reliability in long-running workflows and persistent context scenarios.
- • Participate in the full design process from concept to implementation, working closely with cross-functional teams to align motion with product goals.
- • Contribute to the evolution of the product’s visual language by ensuring motion design supports the AI assistant’s core values: reliability, intelligence, and seamless task completion.
🎯 Requirements
- • Experience in motion design for digital products, with a portfolio showing interface animation.
- • Proficiency in After Effects, Lottie, Rive, or equivalent tools.
- • Understanding of how motion communicates system state, feedback, progress, and user guidance.
- • Ability to design animation that works within technical constraints of mobile and web.
- • Experience working closely with product designers and engineers.
- • Awareness of accessibility and performance considerations for animation.
