  • • Astreya Partners is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Outside Plant (OSP) Fiber Optic Engineer II to join our dynamic team. This pivotal role is instrumental in the design, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of our fiber optic infrastructure, ensuring the delivery of reliable, high-performance networks that are the backbone of modern telecommunications. As an OSP Fiber Optic Engineer II, you will leverage your deep technical expertise, robust project management capabilities, and exceptional cross-functional coordination skills to drive the successful execution of OSP projects from inception to completion.
  • • Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of critical OSP functions. You will be the go-to expert for Fiber Administration, applying best practices to meticulously maintain and enhance our existing fiber network. A significant part of your role will involve Fiber Optic Troubleshooting, where your proficiency in OTDR (Optical Time Domain Reflectometer) testing and analysis will be crucial for assessing fiber optic cable integrity and diagnosing issues to guarantee optimal network performance. You will identify and resolve high losses and failures, ensuring the resilience of our infrastructure.
  • • You will play a key role in GIS and Record Maintenance, utilizing GIS-based fiber management systems for strategic network planning and precise updates. This includes the critical task of reviewing construction as-built drawings to ensure that all network records are not only accurate and up-to-date but also fully compliant with both company standards and relevant regulatory requirements. Maintaining data integrity across all software tooling systems will be a paramount concern.
  • • Effective Vendor and Stakeholder Coordination is essential. You will be responsible for managing relationships with external vendors and collaborating closely with internal cross-functional teams, ensuring seamless coordination of tasks, efficient resource allocation, and timely delivery of project milestones. Your ability to communicate effectively with both internal stakeholders and external partners will be key to success.
  • • As a Project Manager for OSP initiatives, you will lead and manage multiple projects concurrently. This requires strong organizational skills to prioritize tasks effectively, monitor progress against objectives using OKRs and dashboards, and ensure all projects are completed within established deadlines. You will also be responsible for verifying new scopes of work and ensuring that all project documentation, including Methods of Procedure (MOPs), Statements of Work (SOWs), and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), is accurate and comprehensive.
  • • A keen Attention to Detail and commitment to Quality Assurance are non-negotiable. You will be tasked with reviewing and editing splice matrices for accuracy, verifying the technical specifications of new scopes of work, and upholding the highest standards of data integrity across all our software tooling systems. This meticulous approach ensures the reliability and longevity of our fiber optic network.
  • • You will also contribute to Team Leadership and Coordination by organizing and leading meetings with cross-functional teams to foster alignment, drive progress, and resolve any impediments. Providing guidance and mentorship to junior team members will also be an important aspect of this role, contributing to the overall growth and development of the OSP engineering team.
  • • Technical Proficiency is expected, including the ability to utilize various fiber software tools such as FIM, ACC, Gaudi, Ultron, and Glassworks, where applicable. You will be encouraged to stay informed about emerging tools and technologies relevant to OSP engineering, bringing innovative solutions to the table. Furthermore, a solid understanding of telecommunications industry standards (e.g., ITU-T, ANSI, and IEEE) and knowledge of safety regulations and compliance requirements related to OSP work are highly valued.
  • • Your role will involve extensive Documentation and Reporting. You will be responsible for creating and maintaining detailed records, including MOPs, SOWs, SOPs, and job aids, ensuring that all project documentation is thorough and accessible. Providing regular updates on project progress and outcomes to relevant stakeholders will be a key communication responsibility. Proficiency in multiple ticketing systems is also expected to manage and track work effectively.
