Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Own the global payments and fraud roadmap for a marketplace operating in 70+ countries, protecting millions of transactions and ensuring every euro, dollar, yen and pound reaches the right hands—fast.
- • Build, mentor and scale two high-impact teams—Payments and Fraud—spanning analysts, investigators, payment ops specialists and vendor managers. Define org structure, craft career paths and nurture a culture where experimentation, psychological safety and data-driven decisions are the norm.
- • Co-create with Product & Engineering a next-generation fraud stack that moves beyond simple accept/decline logic to risk-scoring, graduated responses and identity verification flows that feel invisible to good users yet impenetrable to bad actors.
- • Drive continuous optimisation of 20+ payment methods, PSPs and payout rails. Analyse conversion funnels, authorisation rates and settlement times, then A/B test wallets, BNPL, instant payouts and local schemes to lift GMV and seller satisfaction.
- • Reduce fraud losses and chargeback rates to industry-leading levels while maintaining sub-second checkout speed and friction-free onboarding for new community members.
- • Lead quarterly OKR cycles, set KPIs (fraud loss %, auth rate, payout TAT, NPS) and present performance dashboards to the Exec Committee, translating complex data into clear narratives and decisive actions.
- • Partner with Legal, Risk and Compliance to interpret PSD2, PCI-DSS, card scheme rules and emerging regulations across APAC, EMEA and the Americas, ensuring we remain both bullet-proof and commercially agile.
- • Negotiate and manage PSP, KYC and fraud-vendor contracts—own commercials, SLAs and roadmaps—while building redundancy and failover strategies that safeguard revenue during outages or geopolitical shifts.
- • Evangelise trust and safety across the company: run fraud awareness sessions for Customer Care, train Content Moderators on counterfeit red flags and brief Marketing on how trust messaging boosts conversion.
- • Contribute to Vestiaire Collective’s B-Corp mission by embedding sustainability metrics into payment choices—favouring low-carbon rails and transparent fee structures that reward circular fashion behaviours.
- • Stay ahead of the curve through industry forums, MRC, AFP and merchant roundtables, then translate emerging threats (account takeover, synthetic IDs, mule networks) into proactive defences before they hit our community.
- • Champion diversity and inclusion within your teams, ensuring fair and unbiased fraud models, inclusive language in user communications and equitable career progression for all genders and backgrounds.
- • Deliver quick wins in your first 90 days—stabilise team morale, plug the top three fraud vectors, cut payout delays by 20 %—then publish a 12-month strategic blueprint that scales to 2× GMV and 3× user growth.
🎯 Requirements
- • 8+ years in payments, fraud prevention or risk management within e-commerce, marketplace or fintech environments.
- • 5+ years of people leadership experience, having built and scaled multi-disciplinary teams across geographies.
- • Deep expertise in card-not-present fraud, risk scoring engines, device fingerprinting, KYC/KYB flows and chargeback representment.
- • Proven track record of optimising PSP performance (auth rates, FX mark-ups, settlement times) across multiple acquirers and 70+ countries.
- • Strong analytical mindset—fluent in SQL, Excel, Looker/Tableau and able to translate data into actionable strategy.
- • Nice-to-have: experience with PSD2 SCA, 3-D Secure 2.x, digital wallets, open banking, instant payouts and fraud ML models.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Competitive compensation plus free shares in a fast-growing French-born scale-up now valued at over $1 billion.
- • Hybrid work from our Paris HQ with flexible hours and two days per year dedicated to volunteering for a cause you choose.
- • Global mobility—opportunities to collaborate in London, New York, Singapore or Berlin offices and meet 50+ nationalities.
- • Annual learning budget, access to industry conferences and internal leadership academies to accelerate your career trajectory.
