- • As a Payroll Analyst at Montrose, you will be a pivotal member of our HR team, playing a crucial role in the accurate and timely processing of North American payroll. This position demands a proactive approach to managing all facets of payroll operations, ensuring compliance with federal and state wage and hour laws, and fostering strong relationships with external auditors and government tax agencies. You will be instrumental in maintaining the integrity of our payroll system and supporting the financial well-being of our diverse workforce across more than 135 locations worldwide.
- • Your core responsibility will involve the meticulous analysis, preparation, and input of payroll data into our automated system. This includes calculating wages, deductions, and taxes, ensuring all entries are accurate and adhere to company policies and legal requirements. You will be the go-to person for understanding and applying complex wage and hour legislation, staying current with any changes that may impact our payroll processes.
- • A significant aspect of this role is maintaining a deep understanding of SOX compliance and other relevant regulations, ensuring our payroll practices meet the highest standards of internal control and financial reporting. You will be responsible for implementing and monitoring procedures that safeguard the accuracy and security of payroll data.
- • You will serve as a key liaison, facilitating clear communication and understanding of payroll procedures among management and employees. This involves providing guidance, answering queries, and resolving discrepancies efficiently and empathetically. Your ability to explain complex payroll concepts in an accessible manner will be highly valued.
- • Assisting managers in resolving payroll discrepancies will be a regular duty. This requires strong analytical skills to investigate issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions promptly. You will also be responsible for calculating hours from time entry systems, ensuring that all employee work hours are accurately captured and translated into payroll.
- • Beyond day-to-day processing, you will contribute to broader HR initiatives. This includes assisting with various HR-related projects, evaluating and recommending improvements to payroll systems, policies, and processes. Your insights will be crucial in optimizing our HR technology and operational efficiency.
- • A key area of involvement will be supporting pre-acquisition and post-acquisition activities related to payroll integration. This entails collaborating with M&A teams to ensure smooth transitions, accurate data migration, and comprehensive training for newly acquired entities, upholding Montrose's commitment to seamless growth.
- • You will play an active role in supporting internal and external audits. This includes preparing necessary documentation, providing data, and responding to auditor inquiries to ensure a smooth and successful audit process. Post-payroll reporting and reconciliation activities will also fall under your purview, ensuring the accuracy of financial records.
- • Maintaining the utmost confidentiality of all employee and company information is paramount. You will handle sensitive data with discretion and professionalism, adhering to strict privacy protocols.

🎯 Requirements
- • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in payroll processing and systems, including familiarity with related software programs.
- • High school diploma or GED required.
- • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with a strong emphasis on Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- • Knowledge of government regulations as they apply to payroll, company policies, and operations, including SOX compliance.
