  • • Deel is revolutionizing the global employment landscape, and we're looking for a highly skilled and experienced Payroll Expert to join our dynamic team in Colombia. As a critical player in our mission to unlock global opportunity, you will be the cornerstone of our payroll operations for specific countries or regions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. This role demands a deep dive into local payroll intricacies, encompassing regulatory adherence, system implementation, and effective vendor management. You will serve as the primary subject matter expert, tackling complex payroll challenges and spearheading continuous process improvements that align with Deel's rapid growth and innovative spirit.
  • • In this pivotal role, you will be entrusted with the end-to-end execution of payroll for designated regions. This involves meticulous planning, precise calculation, and timely disbursement of salaries and related payments to employees. You will be responsible for ensuring that all payroll activities strictly adhere to Colombian labor laws, tax regulations, and Deel's internal policies. Your expertise will extend to managing the entire payroll cycle, from data input and validation to processing and final reconciliation, guaranteeing that every employee receives their correct compensation accurately and on time.
  • • A significant aspect of your responsibility will be to evaluate, select, and implement relevant payroll software solutions. This includes integrating Deel's proprietary product technology requirements to ensure a seamless and efficient payroll system. You will play a key role in assessing the suitability of existing or new software, ensuring it meets our high standards for accuracy, security, and compliance. This might involve working closely with our engineering and product teams to define technical specifications and ensure successful integration.
  • • You will be the guardian of payroll accuracy and timeliness for your region, and potentially other countries for which you receive training. This requires a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating potential risks, conducting regular audits, and implementing robust control measures. Your commitment to precision will ensure that Deel maintains its reputation for reliability and operational excellence.
  • • Preparing and reconciling internal payroll reports will be a core duty. These reports are crucial for internal financial tracking, as well as for demonstrating compliance with local tax authorities. You will need to develop a keen eye for detail, ensuring that all financial data is accurate, complete, and readily available for review and audit purposes. This includes managing statutory filings and ensuring all deadlines are met.
  • • You will own all critical local payroll and HR processes. This encompasses a wide range of activities, from setting up involuntary deductions (such as garnishments or court orders) to supporting the seamless onboarding and offboarding of employees. Your involvement in these critical employee lifecycle events will ensure that all payroll-related aspects are handled correctly and efficiently, providing a positive experience for our employees.
  • • The role involves actively managing payroll expense collections and reconciling these collections against actual expenses. This financial oversight is essential for maintaining budget accuracy and ensuring that payroll costs are managed effectively. You will work to optimize collection processes and ensure transparency in financial reporting related to payroll.
  • • As Deel experiences rapid growth, you will be instrumental in assessing and improving our payroll processes and procedures. This involves identifying bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for enhancement, and then implementing scalable solutions that can support our expanding global workforce. Your focus will be on ensuring that our payroll operations remain compliant and efficient even as we scale.
  • • Staying abreast of all relevant local regulatory and policy changes is paramount. You will be responsible for monitoring the legislative landscape in Colombia and communicating any key changes across relevant teams. This proactive communication ensures that Deel remains compliant and can adapt its processes swiftly to new requirements, minimizing any potential risks.
  • • You will collaborate cross-functionally, acting as the go-to expert for local payroll and HR matters in your region. This involves working closely with legal, finance, HR, and operations teams to provide guidance, support, and insights. Your ability to translate complex payroll and HR concepts into understandable terms will be vital for effective collaboration.
  • • A key part of your role will be to answer complex payroll and HR-related questions from employees and clients in your region. This requires not only deep technical knowledge but also excellent communication and problem-solving skills. You will be a trusted resource, providing clear and accurate information to ensure employee satisfaction and client confidence.
  • • Ultimately, you will contribute to Deel's vision of unlocking global opportunity by ensuring that our payroll operations are world-class, compliant, and employee-centric. Your expertise will directly impact the experience of our global workforce and support Deel's continued success as a leader in the future of work.
