- • Own the full lifecycle of U.S. visa cases, from offer stage through renewals and permanent residency applications for employees relocating to Clay’s U.S. offices in New York and San Francisco.
- • Manage immigration and work authorization requirements for Clay’s London office, including UK Skilled Worker visa sponsorship and right-to-work compliance.
- • Serve as Clay’s internal immigration expert, partnering with external legal counsel to ensure timely case processing and clear communication to employees.
- • Advise recruiters on visa eligibility, sponsorship options, and hiring timelines to align immigration strategy with global talent acquisition goals.
- • Partner with Legal, Finance, and People Operations to build mobility infrastructure as Clay expands into new international markets.
- • Design and manage end-to-end relocation processes for domestic and international moves, ensuring a seamless, supportive experience for employees and their families.
- • Build mobility policies, workflows, documentation, and case tracking systems from the ground up to support scalable global growth.
- • Own compliance for cross-border remote work, business travel, and international employment classification across all jurisdictions where Clay operates.
- • Maintain accurate, organized mobility data to support reporting, audits, and strategic decision-making.
- • Manage the full contractor lifecycle — onboarding, offboarding, classification, agreement review, and recordkeeping — across U.S. and international jurisdictions.
- • Ensure contractor agreements are accurate, current, and audit-ready by collaborating with Legal and Finance teams.
- • Develop scalable processes and systems for contractor management, including tracking tools and documentation standards.
- • Advise People Partners, recruiters, and business leaders on mobility-related questions with clear, practical guidance tailored to high-stakes situations.
- • Translate complex immigration and compliance requirements into plain language for employees, managers, and families navigating sensitive processes.
- • Contribute to broader People Operations initiatives as the team and company scale, balancing operational rigor with human-centered support.
- • Demonstrate autonomy and ownership by following through on commitments, preventing process gaps, and proactively identifying risks in global mobility.
- • Apply genuine compassion and care in every interaction, particularly when supporting employees under stress during visa or relocation transitions.
- • Maintain exceptional attention to detail to prevent compliance errors that could impact employee status or company liability.
- • Communicate with clarity and empathy across all levels of the organization, ensuring accessibility of complex mobility information.
- • Manage multiple concurrent cases with high organization, adapting structure to evolving needs while maintaining compliance integrity.
- • Build systems and processes where none exist, embracing ambiguity and driving action with sound judgment on compliance risk.
🎯 Requirements
- • 5+ years in People Operations with significant hands-on mobility experience
- • Experience with UK and/or European immigration and employment compliance (UK Skilled Worker visa experience a plus)
- • Experience advising on international hiring arrangements and cross-border compliance
- • Experience managing contractor populations, including onboarding/offboarding and classification compliance across jurisdictions
- • Strong vendor management skills — you know how to get the most out of immigration counsel and relocation partners
- • Experience building processes from scratch at a scaling company
