Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Are you a physicist with a passion for problem-solving and a knack for Python? Toloka AI, through its Mindrift platform, is seeking talented individuals like you to contribute to cutting-edge AI development projects. This is a unique opportunity to leverage your deep understanding of physical principles and your programming skills to shape the future of artificial intelligence. As a freelance AI Tutor, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and logical consistency of AI systems by designing, evaluating, and refining complex problems and their solutions.
- • This role is project-based, offering flexibility and the chance to work on diverse challenges for leading tech companies. You won't be an employee, but rather an independent contributor engaged in specific, time-bound projects. Your expertise will be invaluable in creating and assessing AI models that require a strong foundation in scientific reasoning and quantitative analysis. This is an ideal engagement for physicists seeking to apply their skills in a dynamic, forward-thinking industry, contributing to advancements that impact real-world applications.
- • Your primary responsibility will be to design rigorous physics problems that mirror the complexity and nuances of professional scientific practice. This involves conceptualizing scenarios that test the limits of AI understanding, ensuring that the problems posed are not only solvable but also representative of challenges encountered in academic research or industrial applications. You will need to draw upon your academic background and professional experience to craft problems that are both challenging and relevant.
- • Beyond problem design, you will be tasked with meticulously evaluating AI solutions. This evaluation goes beyond simply checking for a correct answer. You will critically assess the AI's approach, scrutinizing its underlying assumptions, identifying any constraints it may have overlooked, and analyzing the logical flow of its reasoning process. This deep dive into the AI's methodology is essential for pinpointing areas for improvement and ensuring robust performance.
- • A significant part of your role will involve validating calculations and simulations using Python. You will employ powerful libraries such as NumPy for numerical operations, Pandas for data manipulation, and SciPy for scientific and technical computing. This hands-on coding ensures that the AI's outputs are mathematically sound and consistent with established physical laws and computational methods. Your proficiency in Python will be key to performing these critical validation tasks accurately and efficiently.
- • You will also contribute to improving the AI's reasoning capabilities. By analyzing the AI's responses and identifying deviations from industry-standard logic or established scientific principles, you will provide feedback and guidance to enhance its cognitive processes. This might involve suggesting alternative approaches, highlighting logical fallacies, or refining the AI's understanding of complex interdependencies within a problem.
- • Applying structured scoring criteria to multi-step problems will be another core responsibility. You will develop and utilize clear, objective rubrics to assess the quality of AI solutions, particularly for problems that require a sequence of logical deductions or calculations. This systematic approach ensures fairness and consistency in evaluation, providing actionable insights for AI developers.
- • The project typically requires an estimated commitment of 10-20 hours per week during active project phases. This is an estimate and not a guaranteed workload, and it applies only while a specific project is ongoing. This flexible structure allows you to balance this freelance work with other professional or personal commitments.
- • Toloka AI, via Mindrift, offers competitive compensation for your expertise. Payment rates can be up to $55 per hour, with compensation structured either as a fixed project rate or individual rates, depending on the specific project's nature. Some projects may also include performance-based incentive payments, further rewarding your contributions. The specific rates are determined by factors such as your expertise, skills assessment, location, and the project's specific requirements. Highly specialized experts may command higher rates, while onboarding or non-core phases might involve different compensation structures. Detailed payment information will be provided for each project you undertake.
🎯 Requirements
- • Degree in Physics or a closely related field (e.g., Engineering Physics, Thermodynamics, Statistical Mechanics, Optics and Acoustics).
- • Minimum of 3 years of professional physics experience.
- • Strong written English proficiency (equivalent to C1-C2 level).
- • Proven strong proficiency in Python, particularly for numerical validation tasks using libraries like NumPy, Pandas, and SciPy.
- • Stable internet connection required for remote collaboration and task completion.
- • Professional certifications (e.g., CPhys, EurPhys, MInstP) and experience in international or applied projects are considered advantageous.
