- • Meridio is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Platform Data Engineer to join our remote-first team, dedicated to simplifying health benefits for small businesses. In this pivotal role, you will be the architect and custodian of our core platform and data foundation, ensuring its robustness, scalability, and reliability. You will own the critical data pipelines, cloud infrastructure, and DevOps workflows that underpin our entire operation, empowering our product and design teams to focus on delivering exceptional customer-facing features without being bogged down by backend complexities or operational challenges.
- • As a key member of a small, agile, and scrappy team, you will thrive in an environment where problems are not always perfectly defined, priorities can shift, and each day presents unique opportunities. We deeply value individuals who possess strong judgment, a proactive sense of ownership, and the ability to operate effectively with clear context rather than rigid, prescriptive rules. If you are someone who enjoys dissecting complex challenges, making well-reasoned tradeoffs, and building practical, effective solutions in a dynamic, fast-paced setting, you will find a welcoming and stimulating environment here.
- • This is a hands-on role where you will be actively involved in writing code, refining our infrastructure, and making pragmatic decisions about system hardening and the appropriate level of investment for different components. You will report directly to our Chief Product Officer, collaborating closely to shape the technical direction of the company.
- • Your primary responsibilities will include owning and continuously evolving our data infrastructure. This encompasses the design, implementation, and maintenance of robust data pipelines that feed into our data warehouse, ensuring data integrity, accessibility, and timely availability for critical business functions. You will manage and optimize our cloud infrastructure, leveraging best practices to ensure high availability, security, and cost-efficiency. Furthermore, you will be instrumental in developing and refining our DevOps workflows, automating processes, and fostering a culture of continuous integration and deployment to maintain system reliability and enable rapid iteration.
- • You will act as a guardian of platform reliability, proactively identifying and mitigating potential issues before they impact product and design teams. This involves establishing monitoring, alerting, and incident response mechanisms to minimize downtime and operational firefighting. You will also support internal applications that are dependent on trusted, accessible data, ensuring they have the resources they need to function effectively.
- • A significant aspect of this role involves close partnership with the Product team. You will contribute to roadmap planning, assist in scoping technical requirements, and engage in thoughtful discussions about technical tradeoffs, ensuring that our platform strategy aligns with business objectives and user needs. Your ability to identify and resolve platform bottlenecks before they impede team velocity will be crucial for our success.
- • Success in this role within the first 12 months will be measured by the establishment of a data environment that is consistently trusted, accessible, and available. You will demonstrate clear ownership of the infrastructure and DevOps practices, leading to a noticeable reduction in platform-related interruptions for product and design teams. We expect to see smooth system performance, even during peak usage periods, and a tangible acceleration in engineering delivery as platform friction decreases.
- • We are looking for individuals who are comfortable navigating ambiguity, can think holistically about systems rather than isolated features, and prefer building simple, resilient solutions over overly complex ones. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to own ambiguous technical problems, understand the balance between building and buying solutions, and articulate technical decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You should thrive in fast-paced, distributed team environments and possess a genuine desire to make other teams more effective through robust platform engineering.
- • Your technical contributions will directly enable Meridio's mission by providing a stable, scalable, and efficient data foundation. You will be instrumental in building the systems that allow us to grow smart and reduce complexity, ultimately making health benefits more accessible for small businesses. This role offers significant opportunities for professional growth and impact within a mission-driven company.
