- • As a Data Engineer at Allata, you will play a critical role in enabling data-driven decision-making for healthcare clients by designing and implementing scalable, secure data pipelines on Azure using Databricks and Python. Your work will directly support analytics, reporting, and AI initiatives in regulated environments where data integrity, compliance, and performance are paramount.
- • You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including data scientists, analysts, and client stakeholders to translate business requirements into robust data architectures, ensuring seamless data flow from source systems to analytical workloads while maintaining high standards of quality and governance.
- • Allata is a global consulting and technology services firm that combines strategy, design, and advanced engineering to solve complex challenges for clients across industries. With a strong presence in healthcare technology modernization, we specialize in building secure, scalable cloud-based solutions that unlock data value through analytics, visualization, and AI-driven automation.
- • Our agile, client-focused teams operate with integrity and innovation, either embedding within client organizations or providing expert guidance as trusted advisors. This role offers the opportunity to work on impactful projects that improve operational efficiency, enhance patient outcomes, and drive innovation in one of the most data-intensive and regulated sectors.
- • In this role, you will design, develop, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Databricks, Python, and SQL to ingest, transform, and load large volumes of structured and semi-structured data from diverse sources including EHR systems, claims data, and IoT devices.
- • You will optimize data models and storage solutions in Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 and Azure SQL Data Warehouse (Synapse) for performance, cost-efficiency, and scalability, applying best practices in partitioning, indexing, and caching to support both batch and near-real-time analytics.
- • You will implement data quality checks, monitoring, and alerting using Delta Lake capabilities and Azure Monitor to ensure data reliability, traceability, and compliance with healthcare regulations such as HIPAA and GDPR.
- • You will collaborate with data scientists and analysts to prepare feature-rich datasets for machine learning models, supporting use cases like predictive risk scoring, readmission prevention, and resource optimization.
- • You will document data pipelines, schemas, and processes clearly using tools like Confluence and Azure DevOps, enabling knowledge transfer and supporting audit readiness in regulated environments.
- • You will stay current with emerging Azure and Databricks features, evaluating and recommending improvements to our data engineering practices to enhance efficiency, security, and innovation across client engagements.

- • 3+ years of hands-on experience as a Data Engineer building ETL/ELT pipelines in cloud environments
- • Strong proficiency in Python for data processing, including experience with Pandas, NumPy, and scripting in Databricks notebooks
- • Proven expertise with Azure Databricks, including cluster management, job scheduling, and Delta Lake implementation
- • Experience working with Azure data services such as Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2, Azure SQL Data Warehouse (Synapse), and Azure Data Factory
- • Solid understanding of SQL and data modeling principles for analytical workloads
- • Familiarity with healthcare data standards (e.g., HL7, FHIR) or experience in regulated industries is a strong plus
- • Ability to write clean, maintainable code and follow version control best practices using Git
🏖️ Benefits
- • Competitive salary commensurate with experience and qualifications
