📋 Description

• As a Principal Applied AI Researcher at Articul8 AI, you will define how the company builds, evaluates, and scales domain-specific models to create a durable competitive advantage in regulated industries such as energy, semiconductor, finance, aerospace, and supply chain.
• You will lead research across the full model development lifecycle, including domain data strategy, continued pre-training, supervised fine-tuning, post-training, evaluation methodology, and strategic decisions on model superiority, while architecting agentic research infrastructure to accelerate innovation.
• You will work within a research-driven organization that combines deep technical expertise with domain knowledge to deliver AI systems meeting high standards of accuracy, explainability, and auditability for Fortune 500 enterprises.
• In this role, you will push the frontier of domain-specific model science, mentor senior researchers, maintain hands-on research impact, and influence platform-level decisions to ensure co-evolution of human and agentic AI systems.

🎯 Requirements

• PhD or MSc in Computer Science, Machine Learning, NLP, or a related field.
• 10+ years in AI/ML research with an exceptional track record of impact, including 4+ years developing LLM-based systems.
• Deep hands-on experience across the full model development lifecycle: continued pretraining, supervised fine-tuning, post-training alignment, and production evaluation.
• Proficient in Python and PyTorch, with direct experience training or adapting models on large GPU clusters using distributed frameworks (DeepSpeed, FSDP, Megatron-LM).
• Demonstrated strategic leadership in shaping research direction, defining investment priorities, and influencing organizational decisions based on proven judgment.
