📋 Description

  • VSP is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Data Analyst to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in shaping and implementing robust, high-trust, and scalable Enterprise data analytics solutions that drive critical business insights. You will collaborate closely with executive stakeholders, technical staff, subject-matter experts, and fellow analysts to achieve these objectives.
  • As a Technical Data Steward, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the Global Data Warehouse remains the definitive, trusted source of integrated Enterprise data. This involves actively contributing to data governance, quality, and lineage initiatives to maintain the integrity and reliability of our data assets.
  • This position requires you to provide expert guidance and advisory services to both business and technical leadership, as well as Product Owners. You will be instrumental in defining and scoping strategic Enterprise, Pillar, and Line of Business analytics product backlogs, and establishing key performance metrics that align with organizational goals.
  • You will perform advanced data analysis, employing sophisticated techniques such as sampling, modeling, profiling, and the evaluation of statistical metrics. This deep dive into data will uncover trends, identify opportunities, and inform strategic decision-making across the organization.
  • A significant part of your responsibility will involve researching and assessing data quality, data lineage, and the business utilization of data sources, particularly for critical Enterprise Master data. This proactive approach ensures that our data is accurate, traceable, and fit for purpose.
  • You will provide leadership and mentorship to Business Analysts and other Data Analysts, offering actionable recommendations to address identified data quality issues. Furthermore, you will guide them in selecting the most appropriate and effective data sources to enable robust analysis of critical master data.
  • Fostering cross-functional collaboration is key to this role. You will champion the strategic leverage of data as a core business asset, enabling self-service analytics (including insight generation and dashboard development), advanced analytics (such as predictive and prescriptive modeling), corporate performance management, and driving digital transformation initiatives.
  • You will ensure that technical metadata and the business glossary adhere to stringent data protection, data privacy, and data quality standards, contributing to a secure and compliant data environment.
  • Provide administrative and configuration support for the Enterprise Information Catalogue and Business Glossary, as well as the Enterprise Performance Management application, ensuring these tools are effectively utilized and maintained.
  • Collaborate effectively within an agile, multi-disciplinary team comprising data architects, data engineers, BI developers, and scrum masters to deliver high-quality analytics solutions that meet business needs.
  • Adapt existing standard business rules or develop new ones for classification, forecasting, simulation, optimization, and summarization to precisely support evolving analytic needs.
  • Assess the accuracy of data sources, define, and document comprehensive cleansing strategies to meet stringent data quality requirements, and provide recommendations for establishing and enforcing data quality standards across the enterprise.
  • This role offers a unique opportunity to make a significant impact on VSP's data strategy, driving innovation and enabling data-driven decision-making at the highest levels of the organization.

🎯 Requirements

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience working with analytical capabilities, including a strong understanding of various analytical architectures, patterns, methods, analytics applications, and Data Warehouse platforms.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience creating detailed technical specifications, metadata, and release documentation.
  • Proven experience using SQL to perform complex data segmentation and analysis, with a strong ability to work with granular raw data from operational systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to gather requirements effectively and communicate technical concepts and ideas clearly to diverse audiences.
