- • Join Accompany Health as a Principal Data Engineer and become a mission-critical, early member of our rapidly expanding team and company. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of healthcare by leveraging data to drive transformative change. You will collaborate extensively across the organization, working hand-in-hand with Product, Sales, and Clinical Operations teams to fundamentally rewire the healthcare landscape. The decisions you make and the solutions you build will have a direct and significant impact, enabling us to execute on our strategic choices and deliver on our promise of dignified, high-quality care.
- • As a Principal Data Engineer, you will be at the forefront of building the technological infrastructure that integrates highly fragmented and dispersed healthcare services into a seamless, end-to-end patient experience. This involves designing, developing, and deploying robust data pipelines, data warehouses, and data lakes that can handle the complexities and sensitivities of healthcare data. Your work will directly contribute to our ability to provide comprehensive, coordinated care for patients with complex needs, encompassing primary, behavioral, and social care.
- • You will play a key role in establishing and nurturing a great engineering culture within Accompany Health. This includes fostering an environment of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. A significant aspect of this role involves maintaining a strategic balance between the rapid development of new products and features and the responsible management of technical debt. You will be empowered to make informed trade-offs, ensuring that our technology platform is both scalable and sustainable in the long term.
- • Your responsibilities will extend to architecting and implementing data solutions that support advanced analytics, machine learning, and business intelligence initiatives. This will involve working with large, diverse datasets, ensuring data quality, integrity, and security, and making data accessible and actionable for various stakeholders across the organization. You will be expected to champion best practices in data engineering, including data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, data governance, and performance optimization.
- • We are looking for an individual who is not only technically proficient but also deeply passionate about our mission to provide equitable and high-quality care. You will have the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies and methodologies, contributing to the development of elegant solutions that address critical challenges in the healthcare industry. Your expertise will be vital in transforming raw data into actionable insights that improve patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
- • This role offers a unique opportunity to make a tangible difference in people's lives and to help correct long-standing disparities in healthcare. You will be part of a dedicated team that is committed to building long-term relationships with patients, ensuring they receive the support they need, day or night, year after year. Your contributions will directly impact our ability to focus on the health outcomes most important to our patients, empowering them to lead the way in their care journey.
- • You will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable and reliable data infrastructure, including data warehouses, data lakes, and ETL/ELT pipelines. This involves selecting appropriate technologies, defining data models, and ensuring efficient data processing and storage.
- • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product, Clinical Operations, Sales, Analytics) to understand their data needs and translate them into technical requirements and solutions. This requires strong communication skills and the ability to bridge the gap between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- • Develop and implement data quality frameworks and processes to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data across all systems. This is crucial for reliable reporting and decision-making.
- • Optimize data pipelines and database performance for speed, scalability, and cost-effectiveness. This includes monitoring performance, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing improvements.
- • Contribute to the development of data governance policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., HIPAA) and maintaining data security and privacy.
- • Mentor junior data engineers and contribute to the overall technical growth of the engineering team. Share knowledge and best practices to foster a collaborative and high-performing environment.
- • Stay abreast of emerging trends and technologies in data engineering and advocate for their adoption where appropriate to enhance our data capabilities.
- • Design and implement data solutions that support advanced analytics, machine learning models, and business intelligence dashboards, enabling data-driven decision-making across the organization.
- • Troubleshoot and resolve complex data-related issues, ensuring the availability and reliability of data systems.
- • Contribute to the architectural vision for Accompany Health's data platform, making strategic decisions about technology choices and system design.
🎯 Requirements

- • Proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language commonly used in data engineering (e.g., Python, Scala, Java).
- • Strong understanding of data modeling techniques, ETL/ELT processes, and data warehousing concepts.
- • Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop ecosystem) and distributed systems.
- • Familiarity with data governance, data quality, and data security best practices, including experience with HIPAA compliance.
- • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to tackle complex technical challenges.
- • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.
