- • Drive deep technical understanding and architectural innovation across PPRO’s global payments platform as a free-floating, non-domain-specific Principal Individual Contributor (L8).
- • Advance the company’s global payments platform by designing scalable, reliable, and robust technical solutions that directly impact market leadership and long-term strategic goals.
- • Collaborate across engineering teams to establish and uphold technology principles, standards, and best practices that ensure system integrity and performance at scale.
- • Provide expert guidance on complex technical challenges, influencing architectural decisions without being tied to a single product domain or team.
- • Evaluate emerging technologies and architectural patterns to identify opportunities for improving platform resilience, scalability, and maintainability.
- • Act as a technical thought leader within the organization, mentoring senior engineers and fostering a culture of technical excellence and innovation.
- • Partner with engineering leadership to align technical roadmaps with business objectives, ensuring solutions support global payment processing needs across diverse markets.
- • Conduct technical reviews of critical system components, identifying risks, bottlenecks, and areas for optimization in high-traffic, low-latency payment workflows.
- • Champion observability, fault tolerance, and security-by-design principles across all layers of the platform to ensure compliance and operational reliability.
- • Influence cross-functional initiatives by providing authoritative technical input on trade-offs between speed, scalability, cost, and reliability.
- • Engage with global engineering teams across PPRO’s 10+ international locations to ensure consistency in technical implementation and architectural alignment.
- • Translate complex business requirements into technically sound, future-proof architectures that enable partners like Ant Group, PayPal, and Stripe to access new markets efficiently.
- • Lead the resolution of systemic technical debt by proposing and driving large-scale refactoring or platform modernization efforts.
- • Represent PPRO’s engineering team in technical discussions with key partners and stakeholders, articulating architectural rationale and technical constraints.
- • Maintain a strong focus on customer impact by ensuring technical decisions enhance the end-to-end payment experience for merchants and consumers worldwide.
🎯 Requirements
- • Proven experience as a Principal Engineer or equivalent senior individual contributor in a high-scale, global payments or financial technology environment
- • Deep expertise in designing and scaling distributed systems for high-throughput, low-latency transaction processing
- • Demonstrated ability to drive architectural innovation across multiple engineering teams without direct managerial authority
- • Strong track record of mentoring senior engineers and establishing technical standards across organizations
