- • Lead the design and evolution of scalable, highly available AWS cloud infrastructure to support Iambic’s drug discovery platform, Computational Science applications, and Machine Learning models.
- • Support and contribute to the Cloud Ops roadmap by aligning infrastructure initiatives with organizational business priorities and technical goals.
- • Provide technical leadership across platform and infrastructure teams, driving architecture decisions and influencing Cloud Ops best practices organization-wide.
- • Build and operate production systems with a strong focus on reliability, performance, and cost efficiency in a life sciences environment.
- • Design and manage cloud networking including VPCs, Transit Gateways, Customer Gateways, VPNs, routing, DNS, load balancing, security groups, and NACLs.
- • Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and Terragrunt to automate provisioning, configuration, and operational workflows.
- • Automate CI/CD pipelines to improve deployment velocity, stability, and observability across ML and software systems.
- • Troubleshoot complex distributed system issues including networking bottlenecks, deployment failures, and Kubernetes service disruptions on AWS EKS.
- • Apply security best practices and actively support ISO 27001 compliance frameworks for cloud operations and data handling.
- • Manage and optimize AWS IAM policies, roles, and permissions to ensure least-privilege access across teams and systems.
- • Deploy and maintain Kubernetes clusters on AWS EKS, including managing zero-downtime upgrades, debugging controllers, and monitoring cluster health.
- • Leverage Cloudflare networking solutions for secure connectivity, DNS management, and DDoS protection across global access points.
- • Collaborate with ML engineers to address challenges in model training, inference, and deployment scalability within cloud environments.
- • Mentor engineers in cloud services, infrastructure automation, and operational excellence, fostering a culture of shared ownership and continuous improvement.
- • Work closely with IT, Computational Scientists, Software Developers, and ML teams to ensure seamless integration of cloud infrastructure with scientific and software workflows.
- • Maintain high operational maturity through observability tooling, incident response protocols, and proactive system monitoring.
- • Fully support remote work but prefer candidates located in Boston, with workspace support available at the Boston office.
🎯 Requirements
- • Minimum of 12 years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree; or 10 years and a master’s degree; or equivalent experience.
- • Strong Infrastructure as Code skills using Terraform and Terragrunt.
- • Strong understanding of AWS services including IAM, EKS, VPC, Transit Gateways, Customer Gateways, security groups, NACLs, and flow logs.
- • Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and automation for production systems.
- • Strong understanding of computer networks: TCP/IP protocols, IP block allocation, routing, and VPN protocols.
- • Cloudflare networking experience and familiarity with ML deployment challenges including model training and inference.
