Full Job Description

đź“‹ Description

  • • Own the strategic vision and multi-year roadmap for Meredith’s internal Services Platform, the engine that powers content discovery, recommendations, and publishing for 30+ brands reaching 100 million users every month. You will decide what gets built—and just as importantly, what does not—to keep the platform coherent, extensible, and future-proof.
  • • Translate high-level business goals into a sequenced backlog of platform capabilities (search, vector retrieval, LLM enablement, content enrichment, etc.) that measurably accelerate developer velocity, eliminate duplicated effort, and unlock new end-user experiences.
  • • Champion a “platform-as-a-product” mindset: curate opinionated, self-service APIs and tools that delight internal developers, ship with world-class documentation and onboarding, and gather continuous feedback to raise adoption and satisfaction scores.
  • • Orchestrate large, cross-functional initiatives across Platform Engineering, Data Science, Infrastructure, and 30 brand teams. Serve as the connective tissue that aligns stakeholders, resolves conflicts, and keeps delivery cadence on track while never losing sight of the long-term architectural north star.
  • • Design and execute migration strategies that move teams off legacy systems onto modern, cloud-native services with minimal disruption. Create compelling value propositions—lower latency, higher reliability, faster feature delivery—and shepherd teams through every phase of adoption.
  • • Define and monitor platform leverage metrics: engineering hours saved, duplicated code removed, service uptime, developer NPS, and downstream impact on reader engagement. Use these insights to prioritize, pivot, and communicate wins to executives and engineers alike.
  • • Partner deeply with engineering leadership to embed reliability, observability, and self-healing capabilities into every service. Set and review SLOs, run blameless post-mortems, and ensure the platform scales gracefully under Super Bowl-level traffic spikes.
  • • Identify emerging opportunities—vector search, LLM-ready retrieval, real-time personalization—and run rapid experiments that de-risk new technologies and position Meredith two steps ahead of industry trends.
  • • Balance strategic foresight with tactical empathy: spend time in developer stand-ups, read support tickets, and sit with editorial teams to understand pain points that never surface in executive decks. Translate those insights into elegant, reusable solutions.
  • • Communicate crisply at every altitude—from C-suite roadmap reviews to hallway white-board sessions—using data, narrative, and prototypes to influence without authority and maintain momentum across a matrixed organization.
  • • Foster a culture of continuous learning: sponsor internal tech talks, publish post-launch retrospectives, and create reusable playbooks so every success compounds across teams.
  • • Uphold Meredith’s commitment to inclusive product thinking by ensuring platform capabilities serve diverse content, audiences, and creators, and by mentoring under-represented voices in product and engineering communities.
