Principal Software Engineer / Architect – Microscopy Data Management & Cloud Platform

📋 Description

• • Lead the architecture and technical design of a distributed data management platform for microscopy and scientific imaging workflows, enabling seamless handling of image data, metadata, and analysis across instruments, on-premise systems, and AWS cloud environments.
• • Define and evolve a unified data model for datasets, metadata, derived data, and analysis outputs to support cross-product and cross-instrument interoperability in life-science applications.
• • Design scalable storage, indexing, search, caching, and data-transfer mechanisms for large scientific datasets in hybrid edge/on-prem/cloud environments, ensuring high performance and reliability.
• • Drive migration of legacy product-specific data-management functions into reusable platform services, improving consistency, maintainability, and scalability across the organization.
• • Collaborate with image analysis, web UI, instrument software, and domain experts to define robust interfaces and end-to-end workflows that support scientific discovery.
• • Provide technical leadership through architecture decisions, hands-on implementation, design reviews, mentoring, and cross-team alignment to elevate engineering standards.
• • Contribute to engineering practices in CI/CD, observability, reliability, and secure software delivery for cloud-based and instrument-hosted systems.
