- • Lead the development of next-generation developer tools for MariaDB’s entire product range, including MariaDB Server and GridGain, to enhance the Developer Experience (DX) for millions of users worldwide.
- • Take full product ownership of core tools in the MariaDB developer ecosystem, guiding their design, development, testing, and build processes using AI coding agents.
- • Design and implement high-performance APIs, SDKs, and AI agent skills that make interacting with MariaDB feel intuitive and seamless, elevating developer productivity.
- • Ensure deep integration of MariaDB tools with modern AI-driven development workflows, including popular IDEs, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud-native environments.
- • Build and refine management interfaces used by DBAs and developers to interact with MariaDB products, balancing technical power with intuitive, clean user experiences.
- • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, product, and support teams to deliver cohesive, integrated solutions that meet the needs of both enterprise and open-source users.
- • Write and maintain high-performance code in C, Python, or Go, with a focus on scalability, reliability, and maintainability across large-scale codebases.
- • Apply modern development techniques to refactor, extend, and test complex systems using agentic coding tools for automated feature implementation and quality assurance.
- • Deeply understand and contribute to the MariaDB and MySQL ecosystems, leveraging expertise in SQL optimization, distributed systems, and database internals.
- • Champion open-source principles by building tools that encourage community adoption, contribution, and feedback, ensuring alignment with global developer expectations.
- • Maintain proficiency in the modern development stack including C++, Python, TypeScript, and their integration with data layers and infrastructure.
- • Work within cloud-native environments using Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud-provider DBaaS offerings to ensure MariaDB tools are optimized for modern deployment patterns.
- • Drive innovation in developer tooling by identifying gaps in current workflows and proactively proposing and implementing solutions that reduce friction and increase efficiency.
- • Advocate for excellence in documentation, tooling quality, and developer feedback loops, ensuring that “good enough” is never the standard.
🎯 Requirements
- • 10+ years of experience in software engineering and product ownership within developer tools, database technologies, or infrastructure-as-a-service
- • Deep familiarity with MariaDB Server or MySQL ecosystems
- • Proficiency in C, Python, and/or Go, with strong experience in writing high-performance, scalable code
- • Experience using AI coding agents for refactoring, feature implementation, and testing
- • Experience with distributed systems tools such as MaxScale or GridGain
- • Proficiency in cloud-native technologies including Kubernetes, Docker, and cloud DBaaS offerings
