📋 Description

• As a Principal Software Engineer - Full Stack at Premier Inc., you will serve as a senior individual contributor who remains deeply hands-on while elevating technical quality across full-stack development, data platforms, and AI-enabled systems. Your impact will be measured by the scalability, reliability, and innovation of the systems you build and enable, directly influencing Premier’s mission to transform healthcare through technology.
• Day to day, you will design and implement full-stack architectural patterns through direct, hands-on contribution, authoring architecture decision records (ADRs) grounded in working code and leading design reviews with active prototyping. You will build reference implementations that teams can adopt, tackling the hardest architectural problems requiring deep system thinking and the ability to ship production-quality code.
• You will contribute production-quality code to the most complex features, platform capabilities, and performance-critical systems across the stack, building and maintaining shared libraries, API patterns (REST, GraphQL, event-driven), and observability tooling using Grafana and DORA metrics. You will actively use and champion AI-assisted development tooling like Claude Code and GitHub Copilot Enterprise to accelerate individual and team output, evaluating emerging technologies through working proof-of-concepts.
• You will mentor senior and mid-level engineers through pair programming, hands-on code review, and collaborative design sessions—not through directives—partnering with engineering managers on hiring bar calibration and DORA metric improvement by modeling expected behaviors and output at each level. You will influence org-wide engineering quality through the code and systems you build, not through committee participation.
• You will operate across modern data and AI platforms such as Palantir Foundry and Databricks, collaborating on architectures that integrate operational software systems with data platforms and AI-enabled services to deliver scalable, insight-driven, and automation-enabled solutions. You will leverage large-scale data pipelines, analytics infrastructure, and AI/ML services to power product features and decision-support systems, working at the intersection of application development, data platforms, and emerging AI capabilities.

• In this role, you will deepen your expertise in enterprise-scale cloud architecture (Azure, AWS, GCP), infrastructure-as-code (Terraform), DevSecOps, event streaming (Kafka), and AI-assisted software development. You will achieve mastery in full-stack production delivery, system-wide performance tuning, reliability engineering, and security-by-design practices, positioning yourself as a technical leader who drives quality through working code and active contribution.

🎯 Requirements

• 10 or more years of applicable experience in full-stack engineering, distributed systems, and production software delivery
• Bachelor’s degree required
• Expert-level full-stack engineering: production delivery across distributed systems, API design (REST, GraphQL, event-driven), and modern frontend frameworks (React, TypeScript)
• Cloud platform architecture on Azure, AWS, and/or GCP at enterprise scale
• Infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) and DevSecOps practices
• Hands-on technical leadership: driving quality through working code, ADR authorship backed by implementation, and design reviews grounded in direct contribution
• Observability and reliability engineering: Grafana, DORA metrics, performance debugging, and production incident ownership
