� Description

• • Own the technical destiny of mission-critical trading and workflow automation products used by 40 % of the world’s largest corporations, central banks, and governments. As Principal Software Engineer you will steer architecture decisions that directly affect millions of end-users and multi-billion-dollar markets.
• • Act as the go-to technical authority for one or more development squads spread across Pisa, Milan, Turin, Collecchio, and Rome. You will split your time between hands-on coding (UI, server-side services, or both) and strategic leadership, ensuring every commit moves the product closer to industry-leading performance, resilience, and user experience.
• • Design, develop, and evolve software components that must scale to extreme throughput and ultra-low latency. Whether you are refining a micro-service in Java, extending a C++ calculation engine, or modernising a React/TypeScript front-end, your code will be scrutinised by the sharpest minds in fintech and must stand up to 24×7 global trading hours.
• • Diagnose and eradicate the most elusive production issues. When a distributed system misbehaves across AWS regions, you will lead war-room sessions, build minimal reproducible cases, and deliver permanent fixes—not tactical patches—while documenting the journey for future reference.
• • Continuously evaluate emerging open-source and cloud technologies. You will run proof-of-concepts, publish internal tech notes, and present findings to architecture guilds, influencing the adoption of tools and patterns that keep ION three steps ahead of competitors.
• • Own the full delivery lifecycle: story breakdown, ATDD/TDD test authoring, CI/CD pipeline tuning (Git, Maven, Jenkins, Nexus, Docker), security scanning, performance benchmarking, and production release. You will set the bar for engineering excellence and ensure every merge request meets it.
• • Mentor and level-up software engineers from graduate to senior grade. Through pair-programming, brown-bag sessions, and personalised growth plans you will multiply your impact, turning good developers into great ones and great ones into future principals.
• • Collaborate daily with Product Managers, Project Managers, SMEs, DevOps, and fellow Architects to translate complex functional and non-functional requirements into elegant, maintainable designs. Your white-board sketches today will become the backbone of tomorrow’s revenue-generating features.
• • Drive process improvements and best-practice definition across globally distributed Agile teams. You will champion clean code, ruthless automation, blameless post-mortems, and data-driven decision making, ensuring that velocity never comes at the cost of quality or people.
• • Represent ION at internal tech summits and, when appropriate, external conferences. Your thought leadership will reinforce our reputation as the place where the brightest engineers solve the hardest problems in financial technology.
