Product Counsel

📋 Description

• • Serve as the primary legal advisor to Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Content teams on all aspects of product development and user experience, ensuring compliance with consumer protection, e-commerce, auto-renewal, dark patterns, advertising law, and platform-specific requirements (Apple, Google).
• • Collaborate cross-functionally to deliver clear, actionable legal guidance across multiple global product lines and jurisdictions, translating complex regulatory requirements into practical product design decisions.
• • Review and advise on critical user journey components including sign-up flows, cancellation flows, upsell mechanisms, monetization models, and content usage to ensure legal compliance and user trust.
• • Monitor and interpret evolving global regulatory frameworks such as FTC, DSA, ROSCA, GPSR, and UK DMCCA, and proactively develop product-ready compliance strategies to mitigate legal risk.
• • Help design, scale, and standardize internal legal processes, templates, and risk assessment frameworks in partnership with Privacy, Content Safety, and Commercial Legal teams.
• • Identify potential legal risks at the earliest stages of product development and work creatively to enable innovation while maintaining regulatory integrity.
• • Provide timely, risk-balanced legal counsel under tight product launch timelines, ensuring legal considerations do not delay product milestones but instead enhance product trustworthiness.
• • Stay current on legal trends in digital health, wellness, and fitness technology, applying that knowledge to advise on product features related to nutrition tracking, fitness coaching, and personalized wellness journeys.
• • Act as a trusted legal partner to the Head of Product Legal and wider Legal team, contributing to strategic decision-making around product launches and global market expansions.
• • Engage with product managers and designers to embed compliance into UX workflows without compromising user experience or innovation.
• • Support the legal team in audits, regulatory inquiries, and policy updates tied to product functionality, subscription models, and user data handling in regulated markets.
• • Promote a proactive, prevention-oriented legal culture that anticipates regulatory shifts before they impact product performance or user trust.
• • Represent Welltech’s legal interests in external forums or industry discussions on digital wellness, consumer rights, and tech compliance where appropriate.
• • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of global platform policies from Apple App Store and Google Play Store, ensuring all product features and marketing claims adhere to their respective guidelines.
• • Contribute to the development of internal training materials and resources to educate non-legal teams on legal obligations related to digital product design and consumer engagement.
• • Maintain strict confidentiality and data integrity in handling sensitive product roadmaps, legal analyses, and user-facing content under review.
• • Prioritize user-first outcomes by ensuring legal compliance enhances, rather than impedes, the user experience across Welltech’s suite of wellness applications.
