Full Job Description
đź“‹ Description
- • Own the end-to-end lifecycle of Span’s core product features—from zero-to-one discovery through scalable production systems—so that engineering leaders everywhere can reclaim team time and unlock superhuman impact.
- • Design and ship a “KTLO root-cause engine” that ingests signals from Git, Jira, PagerDuty, Slack, and CI pipelines, surfaces hidden toil, and prescribes actionable fixes; your code will directly reduce hours lost to unplanned work.
- • Build a next-gen software catalog that feels as effortless as Notion yet as rigorous as Fivetran’s metadata layer; it must auto-discover monolith services, map ownership, and stay in sync without human babysitting.
- • Leverage LLMs and agentic workflows to build an “engineering focus guardian” that intercepts noisy alerts, drafts context-rich pull-request summaries, and schedules heads-down blocks—turning distraction into flow.
- • Work in tight, high-agency loops with the founders: one-week sprints, daily customer calls, and continuous deployment to prod; decisions are made in hours, not quarters.
- • Instrument everything—feature flags, product analytics, infra cost telemetry—so we can measure impact in dollars of engineer time saved and iterate ruthlessly.
- • Contribute to our evolving architecture: TypeScript micro-services on NestJS, React front ends, Postgres + Redis data layer, Kafka for events, all running on AWS EKS via FluxCD; propose and prototype new pieces (e.g., vector DB for embeddings) when the need arises.
- • Champion security, privacy, and reliability from day one; design multi-tenant isolation, SOC-2-ready audit trails, and chaos-testing pipelines that keep customer trust sacred.
- • Collaborate with design, GTM, and customer success to turn raw user pain into polished, lovable UX; you’ll demo weekly to CTOs from Slack, Notion, and Rippling who are both investors and design partners.
- • Mentor future hires and shape engineering culture—write the runbooks, set the bar for code review, and establish the rituals that let a 5-person team punch like a 50-person org.
- • Enjoy outsized ownership: your commits reach prod in minutes, your dashboards steer company OKRs, and your product insights influence the next funding narrative.
🎯 Requirements
- • Demonstrated experience as a founder, first seed-stage engineering hire, or creator of a launched side project with real users.
- • Strong product intuition backed by shipped features that solved concrete user pain; you can show before/after metrics or customer testimonials.
- • Production-grade proficiency with TypeScript, React, and at least one backend framework (NestJS, Express, or similar).
- • Hands-on experience integrating and prompting large language models (OpenAI, Anthropic, or open-source) in agentic or copilot-style workflows.
- • Nice-to-have: deep knowledge of AWS, Kubernetes, and data pipelines (Airbyte, Dagster, Kafka); familiarity with monolith decomposition patterns.
🏖️ Benefits
- • Competitive salary and meaningful equity in a pre-Series A company backed by iconic founders and funds from Slack, Notion, Rippling, and more.
- • Flexible, remote-first culture with quarterly in-person off-sites in inspiring locations (think Tahoe cabins or Tokyo coworking weeks).
- • $3,000 annual learning stipend—spend it on courses, conferences, or that GPU rig you’ve always wanted.
- • Premium health, dental, and vision coverage for you and dependents, plus a monthly wellness stipend for gym, therapy, or meditation apps.
