  • • As a Product Manager - Privacy, Rights & Trust at Protege Inc., you will own a high-impact, 0-to-1 product value stream focused on building privacy and data trust capabilities that are foundational to the company’s mission of enabling secure, efficient, and privacy-centric exchange of AI training data. This role is critical because solving AI’s data problem requires not just technical innovation but credible, trustworthy systems that customers, data partners, and third-party experts can rely on—making your work central to Protege’s potential to become one of the largest companies in AI and tech.
  • • You will drive discovery to identify the most meaningful privacy and trust opportunities across data types and customer contexts, synthesizing input from customers, data partners, and internal teams to define the first wedge of product development with discipline and strategic clarity. This includes taking the initial problem definition through to pilot-ready scope, ensuring that what is built is not only functional but genuinely trusted in high-stakes AI data ecosystems.
  • • You will build and manage Protege’s vendor and partner network by maintaining a current, nuanced understanding of the privacy-preserving tooling and partner landscape—including strengths, limitations, cost, and modality fit—to make principled build-versus-buy decisions that avoid over-reliance on familiar tools or ad-hoc requests, while structuring external relationships to preserve flexibility as requirements evolve.
  • • You will partner closely with Protege’s Data Lab to translate privacy-related research into product by identifying which directions have real near-term potential, deciding what is robust enough to operationalize, what needs further validation, and what remains promising but not yet product-ready, thereby building the bridge from proof-of-concept to scalable capability.
  • • You will navigate a complex external stakeholder map by building credibility with customers, data partners, and third-party certifiers through clear, honest communication that avoids over-claiming and instead addresses real concerns about data handling and responsible claims, bringing external feedback back into product scope to improve team decisions.
  • • You will make and defend disciplined scoping calls in a problem space that could expand infinitely across modalities, regulations, and risk tolerances, knowing which problem to solve first, articulating that choice clearly, and resisting premature scope broadening before the foundation is proven—ensuring focus and impact in early-stage product development.
  • • You will join a lean, fast-moving, high-trust team of builders who are obsessed with velocity and impact, where ambiguity is embraced, ownership is real, and the culture rewards those who solve hard problems with humility, celebrate wins, and are committed to shaping the future of data and AI through hands-on, resourceful execution.
  • • In this role, you will develop deep expertise in operationalizing privacy-preserving technologies at the intersection of research, product, and partnership, gaining rare experience in building trust-as-a-product in the AI data economy—a skill set that is increasingly vital as AI systems face growing scrutiny over data provenance, consent, and ethical use.
  • • You will achieve tangible impact by defining a credible first wedge within 60 days, operationalizing a trusted privacy capability by 90 days, and establishing a repeatable product rhythm that connects research, partner evaluation, and customer credibility to roadmap execution—positioning Protege as a leader in responsible AI data exchange.

🎯 Requirements

  • • 5-8 years of product management experience, ideally in privacy, trust, data governance, or another trust-sensitive product area.
  • • Proven experience taking a 0-to-1 product through early-stage discovery and scoping in a regulated or credibility-sensitive domain.
  • • Sufficient depth in privacy or data governance to engage meaningfully with vendors, researchers, and certifiers without relying on buzzwords or privacy theater.
  • • A rigorous build-versus-buy mindset and strong judgment about partner ecosystems in fast-moving technical domains.
  • • Comfort working at the research-product boundary and the ability to assess what is robust enough to operationalize.
  • • Credibility with external stakeholders and the communication skills to represent Protege clearly and responsibly without over-claiming.
  • • A high bar for precision in writing, scoping, and stakeholder communication.
