- • Underwrites new and renewal property and casualty insurance business by evaluating policy forms, broker endorsement requests, and submitted documentation in alignment with company underwriting standards and guidelines.
- • Assesses risks associated with insuring properties and liabilities by analyzing coverage value, location, usage, safety features, and other relevant factors to determine acceptance, modification, or decline of risk.
- • Determines appropriate coverage limits, insurance premiums, policy terms, and conditions based on risk assessment and established underwriting guidelines to ensure sound financial outcomes.
- • Manages an active portfolio of property and casualty accounts, ensuring timely review of renewals and proactive retention strategies to meet business targets.
- • Examines and evaluates potential exposures to ensure compliance with state and country regulations, carrier guidelines, and organizational policies.
- • Provides accurate premium forecasts and business plans to support budgeting, performance targets, and strategic planning.
- • Maintains and strengthens relationships with brokers and other stakeholders to facilitate submissions, quotes, binds, and policy issuance with professionalism and technical accuracy.
- • Develops customized insurance solutions in collaboration with brokers to meet client needs and expand business opportunities within the designated portfolio.
- • Identifies and pursues new business opportunities while maximizing retention rates of assigned accounts to drive portfolio growth.
- • Participates in marketing activities, industry seminars, and training sessions to stay current on property and casualty underwriting trends, emerging risks, regulatory changes, and industry terminology.
- • Applies evolving market dynamics and regulatory updates to adjust underwriting strategies and maintain competitive, compliant underwriting practices.
- • Ensures all underwriting decisions are executed with adherence to delegated authority limits and organizational compliance frameworks.
- • Delivers high-quality service for both new and renewal business, demonstrating technical expertise, responsiveness, and commitment to client satisfaction.
🎯 Requirements
- • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Risk Management, Actuarial Science, Business Administration, or related field; commensurate work experience accepted
- • 5+ years of direct experience in Property and Casualty Underwriting
- • Must hold minimum state P&C and/or surplus line licenses
- • Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation is a plus
