- • Embark on a unique opportunity to leverage your deep expertise in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and specifically QGIS to contribute to the cutting edge of Artificial Intelligence (AI) development. Handshake Technologies, Inc. is seeking skilled QGIS users for flexible, hourly contract work, acting as crucial AI trainers. This role is designed for individuals who possess practical, hands-on experience with QGIS and related spatial data workflows, and who are eager to apply this knowledge to refine and improve AI models.
- • As a QGIS Specialist - AI Trainer, your primary responsibility will be to evaluate AI-generated content, focusing on its accuracy, relevance, and scientific consistency within the context of real-world GIS tasks and spatial data analysis. You will be instrumental in creating tool-related questions that challenge the AI and meticulously reviewing the AI's responses. Your feedback will directly inform the AI's ability to understand and execute complex GIS operations, interpret spatial data, and generate reliable geospatial outputs.
- • This is not a conventional employment position but rather an ongoing, project-based contract opportunity. It offers unparalleled flexibility, allowing you to integrate this work seamlessly with your existing professional commitments, academic pursuits, or other freelance projects. The asynchronous nature of the work means you can contribute on your own schedule, making it an ideal way to supplement your income and stay engaged with the GIS community.
- • The ideal candidate will have a strong background in roles such as a Spatial Data Scientist, GIS Analyst, Environmental Scientist, Conservation Ecologist, Urban Planner, or Environmental Analyst. Your experience should encompass a solid understanding of spatial analysis, environmental mapping, or geospatial data workflows, with a preference for those who have utilized QGIS or ArcGIS. Familiarity with remote sensing, urban planning data, or conservation mapping workflows is highly valued.
- • A key aspect of this role involves annotating or labeling spatial datasets and geographic assets, ensuring the quality and integrity of the data used for AI training. You will also be tasked with reviewing maps and spatial outputs generated by the AI, assessing them for accuracy, data integrity, and scientific consistency. This critical evaluation process ensures that the AI learns to produce outputs that meet professional GIS standards.
- • While no prior AI or advanced technical experience is strictly required, a genuine curiosity about how AI interacts with geospatial data and workflows will be beneficial. Your ability to translate complex GIS concepts into clear, actionable feedback for the AI is paramount. You will be provided with comprehensive guidelines and project-specific instructions to ensure you can perform your duties effectively.
- • This role is perfect for individuals who thrive on detail, possess excellent written communication skills, and can work independently. You will be expected to follow written guidelines meticulously and provide constructive, insightful feedback. The ability to manage your time effectively and meet project deadlines, even with a flexible schedule, is essential for success.
- • By participating in this program, you will not only contribute to the advancement of AI in the geospatial domain but also gain exposure to novel AI training methodologies. You will be part of a community of GIS professionals who are shaping the future of how AI interacts with spatial information. The ongoing nature of the program means continuous opportunities to engage with new projects and evolving AI capabilities.
- • The work is fully remote, offering the freedom to work from any location within the United States, provided you have a reliable internet connection and a functional desktop or laptop computer. The schedule is highly flexible and asynchronous, with no mandatory minimum hours. Contributors typically dedicate between 5 to 20 hours per week when actively engaged in a project, allowing for a balanced work-life integration. The Handshake AI program operates year-round, with projects becoming available periodically across various GIS specializations, ensuring consistent engagement potential.
